The St. James FC Virginia players send support to seniors, veterans, medical workers

With nursing homes, veteran’s homes and hospitals not allowing visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic, The St. James FC Virginia players are writing letters to spread joy in the community, and even providing much-needed protective masks.

Social distancing efforts have been the hardest on many nursing home residents, employees and veterans, who have been unable to see their families for the last several weeks. Players from TSJ FC Virginia have been reaching out to those affected in Northern Virginia, sending them words of inspiration and ’Thank You’ letters to veterans for their service to the country.

“We are proud of our players for finding ways to help our community during this time,” said TSJ FC Virginia Girls Academy Director Bobby Puppione. “Our club believes in giving back and encouraging our players to help others and be leaders outside of soccer too. The letter writing and making of masks are some ways our players have been able to support others during this pandemic.”

Along with TSJ FC Virginia, other clubs throughout the Maryland, D.C. and Virginia area – such as Maryland United and Loudoun Soccer – are taking on major community service projects during the COVID-19 crisis.
