Players That Impressed: Girls Academy National Finals 2026
The 2026 Girls Academy National Finals took place from July 9-12 in Richmond, VA featuring top teams across the U13-U17 age groups.
Southern California’s City SC took home a pair of GA National Championships, winning it all at both the U13 and U14 levels. NEFC won the U15 championship, Galaxy took home the U16 trophy and Tophat Gold captured the U17 title. The Georgia powerhouse club also previously captured the U19 National Championship, making them the GA’s most decorated club with six titles overall. (RECAP)
High-level prospects from all over the country shined at the GA Finals, stepping up on the national stage and providing college scouts with a glimpse at their ability to set up for their teams in big game situations. From U.S. Youth National Team players doing what they do best, to some uncommitted hidden gems, the GA Finals provided something for every college program to watch with interest.

Mia Egoian | Forward
City SC White 2013 (CA)
Egoian showed her knack for scoring goals in the clutch, coming through with a couple of difference-makers in both the semifinals and in the title match. The Class of 2031 forward was named U13 MVP after her heroic performance, scoring the lone goal for her side during a hard-fought championship game against Michigan Jaguars which City SC won in PKs after a 1-1 draw.

Vivienne Sabala | Midfielder
Michigan Jaguars 2013 (MI)
Sabala went toe-to-toe with top defenses throughout the tournament, and she nearly ended up as a National Champion in the process, as Michigan Jaguars came up one penalty kick short in the title match against City SC. The Class of 2031 attacking standout finished the postseason with 6 total goals, after finding the net in both the semifinal and the final in Richmond.

Kayla Nelson | Forward
City SC White 2012 (CA)
The Most Valuable Player from the U14 age group, Kayla Nelson scored clutch goals in both the semifinal and the title match to lift City SC White 2012 to victory. Nelson’s scoring prowess was on full display as her team needed everything they could muster, edging out Midwest United FC and SEJB FC by identical 2-1 score lines, in their final two games.

NEFC Red 2011 (MA)
In perhaps the single-most significant individual play of the entire tournament across all age groups, Avery Brown scored the game-winning goal of the U15 National Championship in the final minute of regulation for NEFC Red 2011. With the game tied 1-1 in the waning moments of the second half, Brown found the net and lifted her team past a renowned Tophat Gold squad to win the U15 title.

Giuliana Uminsky | Goalkeeper
NEFC Red 2011 (MA)
Giuliana Uminsky secured Golden Glove honors for the U15 age group, following her spectacular efforts throughout the entire GA postseason. The NEFC Red 2011 took it all the way, winning the U15 title thanks in large part to their defensive unit conceded only 2 total goals over 7 games. In a heroic outing, Uminsky and her back line held an absolutely star-studded Tophat Gold 2011 team to just 1 goal in the Final, as NEFC won 2-1.

Quinn Fahey | Defender / Midfielder
Galaxy SC 2010 (IL)
Quinn Fahey will be a name to know from the Class of 2029, after she put together a brilliant all-around performance during the GA postseason. She scored the game-winning goal in the U16 National Championship, a second half strike in a 1-0 defeat of City SC, as Galaxy SC 2010 won it all. Fahey not only scored the game’s only goal, she also contributed to an absolutely dominant team defensive effort by Galaxy SC, which conceded only 1 goal over 7 total postseason games.

Kacey Costello | Midfielder
NEFC 2011 (MA)
Kacey Costello put on an offensive masterclass during NEFC Red 2011’s postseason run to the U15 National Championship, ultimately receiving MVP honors. The Class of 2029 midfielder scored 6 total goals during the postseason, including a key score in the first half of the title match against Tophat, which NEFC won 2-1.

Tophat 2009 Gold (GA)
Playing up a year with the 2009 squad, York rose to the occasion and led the National Champion Tophat 2009 Gold team in scoring, finding the net 3 times in Richmond. She notched an assist as well, in an all-around stellar performance for the U.S. U-16 Girls National Team roster pool member.
2028
The U.S. U-16 Girls National Team goalkeeper and Class of 2028 UCLA commit delivered yet another phenomenal performance, taking home the U16 Golden Glove award while leading Galaxy SC to the U16 National Championship. Galaxy SC’s defensive unit conceded only 1 total goal over 7 postseason games. They provided a much-needed clean sheet during a 1-0 win in the Final against City SC.

Jasylene Ortega | Midfielder
Galaxy SC 2010 (IL)
Ortega played a central role in helping Galaxy SC 2010 secure the U16 National Championship, taking home MVP honors after serving as a big time playmaker throughout her team’s postseason journey. Ortega serves as the motor for her team’s offense, making key passes and creating space with some decisive dribbling. She’s also a hard-nosed defender, forcing turnovers and creating quick counter attacks with ease.
2027
Scott and her Tophat 2009 Gold teammates put on a defensive masterclass throughout their journey to capturing the U17 National Championship. The future Florida Gator showed why she was a highly-coveted recruit from the Class of 2027, securing MVP honors for her efforts, after locking down some dangerous opposing attacking players.
This Class of 2027 forward showed why she was a recruiting target for the University of Virginia, serving as a significant weapon in the Tophat 2009 Gold attack. Layfield is one of several Power 4 bound offensive players for the U17 National Champions who completely overwhelmed the opposing defenses that Tophat faced in the postseason. She finished her strong play with a goal in the title match.

Tophat 2009 Gold (GA)
Aviana Owings came up in the clutch for Tophat 2009 Gold during their U17 National Championship run. She made a pair of critical saves during their 2-1 quarterfinal victory over FC United (IL), including a diving stop on a long-range blast to help preserve her team’s lead. In the semifinals, she helped the offense with some aggressive distribution out of the back, making some long-range punts which ended up leading to a pair of goals. (HIGHLIGHTS)

This Notre Dame commit closed the curtain on her remarkable youth soccer career in fitting fashion, going out as a GA National Champion with Tophat 2009 Gold. Kersh found the net during her team’s dominant 4-1 win over SC del Sol in the U17 Final, putting overwhelming pressure on the opposing back line and drawing constant attention from the defense.
