UVa and U-20 WNT coach Swanson named to shortlist for FIFA World Coach of Year
Virginia women’s soccer head coach Steve Swanson, who led the United States to the U-20 Women’s World Cup championship last month, was named to the shortlist for FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football the organization announced Thursday. Swanson is one of ten coaches named to the list.

Summer Green hat-trick leads U.S. Under-17s to World Cup group win
Early Tuesday morning Eastern Time, the U.S. Women's Under-17 National Team downed Gambia 6-0 in group play at the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Michigan Hawks star and University if North Carolina commit Summer Green scored a hat-trick with goals in the 25th, 62nd, and 71st minutes.

The United States opened the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup with a scoreless draw against France on Saturday in the Group B opener for both teams at Lankaran Stadium. U.S. goalkeeper Jane Campbell had 12 saves as the defense withstood France's attack to share second place in the group stage.
