Notre Dame announces No. 3 ranked men’s soccer recruiting class

McFarland Family Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chad Riley and the Notre Dame men’s soccer program have announced their Class of 2026.

The Irish will add seven players to a program that won its first ACC Championship title and made a run to its second College Cup. The incoming class is ranked third in the nation according to TopDrawerSoccer and features four players ranked in IMG’s top 200 rankings.

“We are thrilled to welcome these young men to Notre Dame and into our team,” Riley said. “They represent exactly what we are looking for in our future teammates and we can’t wait to get started working with them on a daily basis!”

  • Midfielder Kelvin Baffour (Southport, Connecticut & Kumasi, Ghana/Black Rock FC)
  • Midfielder Daniel Boateng (Carpinteria, California & Accra, Ghana/Santa Barbara SC)

Kelvin Baffour

  • Ranked #82 in the TopDrawerSoccer Class of 2022 Rankings
  • Earned All-America honors his senior season
  • Named a WNEPSA All-Star
  • Served as team captain at Taft for junior and senior seasons
  • Finished his Taft career with 34 goals and 30 assists over three seasons
  • Led Taft to a record of 19-1 during senior season, scoring 24 goals and adding 16 assists
  • Also competed for the Taft track and field team, running the 100m dash
  • Earned high honors as a student at Taft

Daniel Boateng

  • Ranked #76 in the TopDrawerSoccer Class of 2022 Rankings
  • Three-time team Captain of Santa Barbara Soccer Club
  • Led Santa Barbara Soccer Club to the 2021 US Youth Soccer National Final
  • Three-time All-CIF First Team
  • Helped Santa Barbara Soccer Club win two Surf Cups and two Coast Soccer League titles
  • Played in the Gothia Cup in Sweden
  • Recipient of the Phil Womble Ethics in Sports Award
  • Served as a Senior Prefect and was an Honor Council Member
  • Volunteered on a service trip to Los Niños
