Texas signs trio of new Longhorns as part of initial 2023 recruiting class

AUSTIN, Texas – Head soccer coach Angela Kelly and the University of Texas soccer program announced three signees to National Letters of Intent for the 2023-24 academic school year.

Signees include (Top Drawer Soccer National Player Rank/Position/Hometown/High School/Club Soccer Team): Arianna Brothers (Midfielder/Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma High School/PacNW G04/05), Avery Clark (No. 45/Forward/Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood High School/Tennessee SC) and Carly Montgomery (Defender/Matthews, N.C./Ardrey Kell High School/CSA Charlotte Soccer Academy).

Arianna Brothers

A native of Maple Valley, Wash., Brothers has spent time playing almost exclusively with club soccer program PacNW G04/05 of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). A 2022 ECNL National Selection Game choice and a member of the 2020-21 ECNL Northwest All-Conference First Team, Brothers has also been a 2020 ECNL CSP Northwest (Pacific) participant, named to the 2019 ICC Futures West All-Star Team and a part of the 2019 San Diego Surf Cup U16 Best of the Best Champions. As part of the U.S. Soccer youth program, she was a member of the 2022 U.S. U17 WNT provisional roster, and a participant at the 2017, 2018 & 2019 U.S. Soccer YNT ID Center and in a 2021 U.S. U17 WNT Virtual Camp. As part of the Olympic Development Program, Brothers played in the 2017 ODP (Phoenix, Ariz.), WA RCL State Cup and U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships and traveled to a 2017 ODP G05 Region IV ID Camp. In her lone season playing with Tahoma H.S. as a freshman in 2019, Brothers selected tabbed as a 4A Girls H.S. Soccer First Team All-League choice.

Listed as the No. 1 South Region player, the No. 11 forward and the No. 45 player overall in the Class of 2023 Top Drawer Soccer IMG Academy Top 150 national player rankings, Clark ventures to the Forty Acres out of “The Volunteer State.” Playing exclusively for the Tennessee Soccer Club, she led her ECNL team in goals and total points for the past four seasons while earning United Soccer Coaches All-South Region and four ECNL Ohio Valley All-Conference nods. Clark has also been a part of the ECNL Conference Selection Program on three occasions, the ECNL National Training Camp and was listed as Top Drawer Soccer’s No. 6 ECNL U16 Goal Scorer and to the ECNL Best XI at both the U14 & U15 levels. With the Olympic Development Program (ODP), Clark spent time with the Region 3 ODP team playing internationally in Spain, traveled to an ODP National Training Camp and dozens of U.S. Youth Soccer ID Camps and was a call-up to the U.S. YNT U14 National Camp.

 

Carly Montgomery

A two-sport standout in soccer and basketball at Ardrey Kell H.S., Montgomery is coming off a season that saw her earn 2022 United Soccer Coaches Spring Girls High School All-Atlantic Region, SoMeck Conference Player of the Year and All-SoMeck Conference honors while helping guide her squad to SoMeck Conference and West Regional titles and a North Carolina Class 4A State Championship runner-up finish. A team captain and nominee for 2022 North Carolina Gatorade State Player of the Year, the center back totaled nine goals and seven assists as a junior while anchoring a defense that allowed just 10 goals and posted 19 shutouts over a 25-2-1 season. Included in her efforts were a pair of goals during a 3-1 playoff victory over West Forsyth and a key assist in the last minute of regulation to help tie Cardinal Gibbons and send the state title match to overtime. As a sophomore for the SoMeck Conference Co-Champions in 2021, Montgomery scored six goals and dished six assists over 14 matches on the way to receiving all-conference, all-region and team defensive player of the year accolades. With her CSA Charlotte Soccer Academy club program, Montgomery has served as a team captain and reaped a pair of Mid-Atlantic All-Region ECNL First Team honors (2021 & 2022) while helping her squad to the top seed in the 2022 ECNL Playoffs in Seattle, Wash.
