SYC Soccer and Manassas United partner up to provide MLS NEXT pathway

Springfield, Va. – Springfield Youth Club (SYC) and Manassas United have announced a new partnership between the two clubs.

The partnership will provide SYC with an increased player pool and Manassas United players with a pathway into the newly-formed MLS NEXT for the upcoming 2020-21 season. Currently, both clubs compete in the Elite Development Program (EDP) and SYC also participates in Club Champions League (CCL Premiership, Championship, NEXTGEN, and NCSL.)

The partnership will create increased club collaboration in multiple areas including:

*Coaching Education Opportunities
*Curriculum and Training
*Collaboration in Identifying player talents, intent and proper pathways
*Part-Time player opportunities to attend MLS NEXT training sessions as well as league games, showcases, etc. when possible.

“The Manassas United family is excited to partner up with SYC with a plan to create a larger pool for youth development in Northern Virginia as a pipeline for MLS NEXT,” said Carlos Ayala, Manassas United President. “We have full trust that our local talent will be put in the best hands to further their dreams.”

César Torres, SYC Travel Soccer Commissioner had this to say:

“We are very excited to welcome Manassas United to the SYC family via this partnership. Their individual player development philosophy and ours are very similar. They are devoted to the player. This also helps start to consolidate the player pool in our area, we need to ensure that MLS NEXT is available to the best talent.”

SYC Soccer has recently expanded its boys 2008 and 2007 age groups to the highly coveted MLS NEXT. In addition, SYC will continue to play in EDP National League, Club Champions League, and NCSL.
