Players to Watch: ECNL Girls Florida Winter 2024 National Event

The first ECNL Girls National Event of 2024 will kick off with ECNL Florida taking place from January 7-9 in Lakewood Ranch, FL. (College Coaches)

ECNL Florida will feature 230 teams from across the league’s U15-U18/U19 age groups. To view the schedule for ECNL Florida, click here.

Ahead of the weekend’s action, here are some players to know from this year’s event. Players are listed according to their graduation year.

Avry Wilson | Goalkeeper
Tennessee SC 08 (TN)

Joining Tennessee after a successful career with Eclipse, Wilson (who is a 2009) has fluorished early on in the ECNL season for their U16s. Thanks to her efforts between the posts, Tennessee blanked Racing Louisville Academy 2-0 just before the winter break. In addition to her exploits at the club level, Wilson has participated in multiple USYNT ID Camps throughout her youth career.

Jenna Newman

Named to the ECNL’s Mid-Atlantic All-Conference First Team last season, Newman has followed up her previous campaign with another strong effort for her new club Northern Virginia Alliance. Newman makes strong, decisive runs at goal and can hit her teammates with precise passes leading to goal-scoring opportunities.

Sydney DeLacy

Coming off of a two goal performance at the Tennessee Showcase, DeLacy is one of the leading goalscorers for Va Union’s 08s. In league play this season, she has scored seven goals for the Mid-Atlantic Conference based-team.

Hayden Heiple

Plays up two years for Tulsa’s 07s and provides an immediate impact up top, playing all three forward positions. Her pace and speed both on and off of the ball allow for her to create immediate goal-scoring opportunities.

Allie Wiemann | Forward
VDA 08 (VA)

Earned the opportunity to play up with VDA’s 08s at this winter’s event after an impressive performance with their 09 team this fall. Her persistence on the attacking end gives defenders fits, never giving up on a goal-scoring opportunity. Although she is comfortable with the ball at either foot, her left foot can hammer home goals from anywhere inside of the eighteen yard box.

Midwest United 08 (MI)

A 2023 national finalist and Golden Boot winner in the Girls Academy will be guest playing for Midwest United for her first ECNL national event. Jeakle suited up twice earlier in the year with Midwest United, scoring both goals in a 2-2 tie with Gretna Elite and being a constant threat against the defending national champs, Michigan Hawks in a 0-2 loss. Jeakle is looking to test her knack for scoring and creating for others during the Florida event.

Bailey Sapp | Defender
Indy Eleven Pro Academy 08 (IN)

Spearheads an Eleven defense that is coming off of back-to-back 1-0 wins over Ohio Premier and Kings Hammer in Ohio Valley Conference play. Sapp is an instant difference-maker at the outside back position, able to make a timely challenge and immediately transition the team into attack. She is a member of her ODP State and Regional team for the past two years.

Julia Amireh | Midfielder
NC Courage 08 (NC)

Serving as the team’s center attacking midfielder, Amireh helps stir the Courage attack providing solid service for her teammates and creating goals. She earned a brace in their recent 6-0 win over Va. Union, helping push the team to a 8-0-2 record. Amireh also featured for their U17s, scoring a goal in their 2-0 win over Fairfax Brave. Her footwork was also on display alongside eight of her teammates at the United Futsal World Tournament, where she scored three goals and provided an assist.

Peyton Seward | Goalkeeper
Richmond United 08 (VA)

At the recent Tennessee event, Peyton had three clean sheets and helped secure three wins for her United 08s. In Mid-Atlantic league play this season, she has recorded seven clean sheets in eleven matches. Across all ECNL competitions, she has allowed only four goals total. Seward has participated in multiple ODP camps throughout her youth career.

Samantha Suppes | Midfielder
Atlanta Fire United 08 (GA)

A two-time USYNT roster call up, Suppes scored the game-winning goal against Concorde Fire Platinum to end the regular season with six goals and four assists. Suppes has an explosive first step with the ball and can open up the field with runs without it. Equally adept with the ball at either foot, she can make the clever toe poke passes to create goal-scoring chances for the Fire.

Penn Fusion SA 08 (PA)

A North Atlantic All-Conference First Team selection last year, Pascarella stirs the attack up top for Penn Fusion SA with her precise passes and shot selection. Pascarella also plays basketball which is evident in her footwork and how she takes on defenders off of the ball. Her ability to find space inside of the eighteen and exploit make her a dangerous asset for Penn Fusion.

Vienna Whipple | Defender
Crossfire Premier 08 (WA)

Recently called up to the USWYNT U-16 camp in October, Whipple is one of the top defenders for her age group in the country. Last season, she earned ECNL All-American Honors while also being named the Pacific Northwest Player of the Year for her age group. After making the ECNL National Quarterfinals last year, Whipple has spearheaded Crossfire’s 08s work in securing an undefeated record thus far in ECNL play.

Rhiannon Mahon

Co-captained Solar to a 7-2-0 record on 21 points in the Texas Conference. At the ECNL Tennessee event in November, she led a backline that allowed just two goals and a shutout against Classics Elite (14-0). Mahon was recently called up to participate in the USWYNT U-16 Regional Talent ID Camp and was a member of Solar’s U14 team in 2022 that won the ECNL National Championship.

Ally Griswold

VA

Had a strong showing at the ECNL Tennessee event in December, leading Arlington to two wins over Sting Austin (3-2) and FC Alliance (2-1) a gutsy draw against the hosts Tennessee SC (0-0). Alternating between center-back and right-back, Griswold can make the key defensive stops needed to stem attacking chances as well as provide shape from the back. She was named to the ECNL All Mid-Atlantic Conference First Team last season.

Sierra Dupre

Midfielder Forward
PA

A regular at several US National 2008 Camps, Dupre was a part of the U15 roster that played against the Netherlands and Germany last summer, scoring and helping lead the team to two victories. For her club team, Sierra has led the Riverhounds 2007 team in scoring each year. She has shown how smoothly she can transition from an attacking player to help defend for her team in the mid.

An anchor for the Arlington 08 ECNL back line with strong 1 v 1 defending and decisive tackling ability. Tall, strong, and athletic with great ball distribution, capable of starting the offense from the back and finding teammates with long diagonal balls or passes through the middle. Good aerial ability, providing both strong defense and offense for corners and set pieces.

Riley Cunningham

Assisted on Indy Premier’s game-winning goal in their 1-0 win over Kings Hammer earlier in the month. Playing in the outside back/winger position Cunningham can use her speed and open up defenses, forcing them to go out wide and chase. From there she can hit pinpoint crosses into the box for her teammates to capitalize on.

Riley Popp

MO
Playing as the teams starting forward, Popp is a dangerous, crafty player in the final third. Her poise and confidence in one-on-one situations make her difficult to break down . She is also a highly efficient passer, currently leading her team in assists.

Selected to participate in the weekend’s ECNL National Selection Game, Work is a highly productive midfielder that spurs the Racing Louisville attack. Her small cuts and subtle passes help open up play and ensure her team maintains possession. She is a co-captain with Louisville and earned Best XI honors at the Chula Vista Conference Cup in August.

Concorde Fire Platinum 07 (GA)

Working alongside fellow goalkeeper Malia Loadwick, Fletcher, pulled together two shutouts against United Futbol Academy (4-0) and Atlanta Fire United (2-0) to pull Platinum to a 12-2-1 record before the winter break. Fletcher between the posts has been instrumental in the Fire winning back-to-back Southeast Conference Championships. At the Marist School, she was an All-State selection last spring.

One of the top defenders out of the state of Texas, Wiele anchors a strong backline that stifles opponents creativity inside of the eighteen. Wiele can make the tough, decisive stop in open space and is a leader along the backline.

Riga Kallaba | Midfielder
Chicago Inter SC 07 (IL)

In Chicago’s first year of ECNL play, Kallaba has played an integral role in keeping her team in matches against some of the top opponents in the Midwest. In Chicago’s recent Showcase, she showed her scoring prowess earning all of her team’s goals. Aside from her shooting, she also plays a key role in transitioning the team from a defensive position to an attacking one.

Western New York Flash 08 (NY)

Alongside her fellow defenders, Iozzia had a strong showing at the Nashville showcase in Decembe, earning two shutouts and three wins. She has demonstrated leadership along with a unique combination of mental, physical, and technical skills on the backline helping the team achieve some strong results early in their Ohio Valley Conference campaign.

Concorde Fire Premier 08 (GA)

Wrapped up Concorde’s the Southeast Conference title with back-to-back wins over CESA Liberty (1-0) and South Carolina United (2-1). Moss runs a tight, consistent backline that can meet the pressure of an attack and hold their own. The captain led a defensive effort that allowed just ten goals in league play this past fall and winter, lowest among all Southeast Conference 08 teams.

Atlanta Fire United 08 (GA)

Scored a key header for the Fire in their critical 3-2 win over Concorde Fire Platinum to wrap up 2023. Alongside her defensive linemates, Vermillion has helped Atlanta earn eight shutouts during ECNL play.

Natalie Hoefer | Defender
Tulsa SC 08 (OK)

Ended the fall 2023 season with four consecutive shutouts over Texas Conference opponents to lift Tulsa to an 8-2-2 record on 26 points. Her timely clears and passes out of the back help create long, sustained possessions and give the team shape while building through the midfield.

Fresh off of a USWYNT U16 camp appearance, Raymond had a strong fall season with UFA leading a defensive unit that had four shutouts. Her speed allows for her to track back and stem counter-attacking chances with precise tackles. Raymond is also unafraid to mix it up with forwards, using her strength to box out attackers.

Dallas Texans Academy 08 (TX)

Majors has scored 15 goals across all competitions for the Texans this season, including 5 goals in league play. Whether creating goal-scoring opportunities for herself or setting up her teammates (7 assists) Majors is a dynamic force in the attacking third. With her high school Ursuline she is a two-year starter at the varsity level and has previously won the Texas State Championship.

DKSC Bones 08 (TX)

A member of the Puerto Rico U17 Youth National Team, Rivera was named the Utility Player of the Year for Hebron High School. Her ability to play multiple positions along the defensive line for both Hebron and for DKSC gives her team ample flexibility in stopping opponents and providing some respite for her teammates.

Playing at the left center-back position, Garvin helped FC Dallas shutout Real Colorado National (3-0) and Colorado Rapids (1-0) to end the 2023 season. Thanks to her efforts, Dallas has allowed just nine goals in Texas Conference play this season. As a natural lefty her set piece delivery is a constant threat and gives Dallas ample goal-scoring opportunities off of free kicks and corners.

Sporting Blue Valley 07 (KS)

Tallied multiple goals and assists in ECNL play this season. A box-to-box midfielder, Stover can connect the defense with the attack with pinpoint passes and strong runs at the opposition. At the high school level, she led Shawnee to a Kansas 6A State Championship appearance and was named to the Sunflower League second team.

Richmond United 08 (VA)

Anchors the midfield for a Richmond United team that has held their own in the Mid-Atlantic 08 conference (4-4-3, 15 points). With her recent move from central defender to central midfield, Flannery brings a mixture of defensive and attacking talents and is not afraid to make the crunching tackle, She has the ability to break the back line with her passing ability and is excellent in the air. Flannery was a part of Richmond’s 2022 ECNL Playoff run, which saw them make the Round of 16, and is a USYF National Champion.

Sting enter the Florida Showcase in fine form, sitting in first place in the Texas Conference on a 17-0-2 record on 53 points. Part of the reason for their success stems from the addition of Grimes in the offseeason. The lockdown defender is remarkably calm and composed under pressure, working with her teammates to provide a high-level of organization along the backline. At 5’11” she can take on attackers in the air and provide service to her teammates on both sides of the pitch. Her ability to read what attackers are doing quickly and provide a solution makes her highly to break down.

A multiple-time USYNT Regional ID Camp invitee and a Ohio Valley All-Conference First Team selection last year, Uzelman has picked up where she left off last season for TSC. In their recent 2-0 win over Racing Louisville Academy she found teammate Summer Riley in open space with a pinpoint cross far post.

Penn Fusion 08 (PA)

A 2023 ECNL Girls U-15 All-American and North Atlantic All-Conference First Team selection, Rubinich is a 5’9” defender with athletic ability, speed and technical skills. She is a co-captain and central defender that played every minute of every game in helping lead her Penn Fusion team to the quarterfinals of the 2023 ECNL National Championship playoffs.

Consistently takes charge of crucial defensive moments to disrupt opposing attacks while contributing to the overall defensive organization of the team. As a steady presence for the Gretna Elite 08 ECNL backline, she exhibits impressive one-on-one defending skills and a talent for making decisive tackles. Standing tall, strong, and athletic, Kennedy not only excels in kickstarting offensive plays from the defensive position but also showcases precision in distributing the ball, whether through long diagonal balls or threaded passes through the midfield to connect with teammates.

A strong, quick, and athletic outside back with the technical ability of an interior player, she has been a consistent presence on the back line for the 3x Ohio Valley Conference Champion Tennessee SC 08s and was named to the ECNL Ohio Valley All-Conference First Team last season. Arauz is fearless in the tackle and made key defensive stops at the ECNL Tennessee Event to help her team come away with 2 victories against Rebels FC (2-1) and Mustang Soccer Club (2-1), and a 0-0 tie against Arlington. She provides a calming presence on the back line with the ability to keep possession of the ball and help her team transition to the attack quickly. She is also a multiple USYNT Regional ID Camp invitee.

2025

Emmalea Sidorsky

Defender
FL

Provided consistent support along the backline for Orlando City during the fall season, leading her team to a 5-1-2 record on 17 points. Sidorsky’s combination of speed and tight, consistent ball control makes her difficult for opponents to track and gives her team structure as they set up the attack. Orlando earned their first shutout of the season in their 1-0 win over GSA, capping a strong fall campaign in a tough 07 Southeastern Conference.

Lyla Bell

Midfielder
PA

Operating out of the defensive midfield, Bell stifles opponents with her close marking and expert tackling. She can also make the immediate transition from defense to attack, using her field vision to pick out teammates on the flanks and build sustained possessions. DELCO are coming off their two best results in North Atlantic Conference play, a 2-2 draw against Match Fit Academy and a 3-0 win over Pipeline SC. Look for Bell, who is a two-time USYNT Regional ID Camp invitee, to play a big role as they continue to find their form.

Natalie McCann

Midfielder
FL

Directs the midfield with her crisp passes and remains uncannily composed when facing pressure from the opposition, McCann is a true number six in every sense of the word. Whether playing for Jacksonville FC or for her high school team Pointe Verde, McCann leads by example and is willing to do whatever it takes to retain possession and give her team the best opportunity to win. At the most recent ECNL event in Tennessee, Jacksonville earned two draws Tulsa SC and San Juan and finished things off with a convincing 5-1 win over So Cal Blues.

Catalina Benavente

Midfielder Forward
FL

A strong midfield player with great composure and the ability to take players on. Catalina is dynamic with the technical skill-set to keep the ball and create goal-scoring opportunities especially during transition. She has extremely good individual technique and can comfortably pass and strike with both right and left foot.

Loretta Talbott

Midfielder
MD

In six conference games so far this season, Loretta has had three goals and three assists. This includes two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win against what had been an undefeated NC Courage just prior to the holiday.

Anchors a Gretna defense that has allowed just 16 goals in Midwest Conference play this season. At 5’10” Herfindahl is an asset in the air using her height and field awareness to make make come down with clearances in the defense or goal-scoring chances off of set pieces. Gretna will be using these three matches to prepare for a big match against Minnesota Thunder in February with an ECNL Playoff appearance on the line.

Miranda Dumornay

A dynamic defender, Dumornay commands her line and keeps composure under pressure. Preventing opponents from driving up the center of the field, she forces forwards to go around lessening their chances at scoring. Using her experience in the holding midfield spot, Miranda is a critical piece to Prime’s success this season.

Ella Sellers

Goalkeeper
GA

A 2025 verbal commit to Middle Tennessee State, Sellers has thrived between the posts this fall for UFA. Alongside her defenders and fellow goalkeeper Grace Stair, UFA limited opponents to just 18 goals and sport a goal differential of +25 (highest among all Southeast Conference 07 teams). Against Atlanta Fire in December, Sellers made multiple key stops en route to earning the clean sheet.

Jada Graham

Graham impressed as an outside back for FC PRIME 2007 at the ECNL FL event. Her speed and strength made it impossible for attackers to get in on goal. She was able to quickly start attacks and use her pace to in behind on the offensive side of the ball. Overall it was impressive to watch her play.

Wilmington Hammerheads 07 (NC)

Earned two clean sheets down at ECNL TN, including a 2-0 win over Indy Eleven Pro Academy to start the weekend. In one-on-one situations with an attacker, Williams can take the perfect angle that limits the attackers’ chances at goal. She also has superb field vision and can pick out teammates on either flank or up the field.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds Academy 07 (PA)

Led the Riverhounds to back-to-back wins to start their Ohio Valley Conference-North Division season, a strong start after having made the North American National Championship final in 2022-2023. De Jesus anchors the ‘Hounds backline, thriving at both center-back and outside back. Her timely clearances and strong passes have helped her teams out of jams multiple times this season.

PDA Blue 08 (GA)

Recently named the 2023 New Jersey Player of the Year and selected as a United Soccer Coaches All-American, Halpern is one of the top midfielders in her age group. In her first game of her junior year, Halpern scored her 100th high school goal. A USWYNT U16 call-up, Halpern will be looking to bring an attacking spark to PDA in Florida.

SUSA 07 (NY)

A 2025 verbal commit to Clemson, Costello was recently called up to the USWYNT U-17 roster for their friendly against Japan. For her high school Melville, she played an integral role in winning their second consecutive state championship. For her efforts, Costello was named to the All-State team.

Sting Austin 2007 (TX)

Wyrick has been a formidable part of the backline for Sting’s 07s this season. Her ability to play both left and right back has led to several counter attacks for Sting Austin. She also is very comfortable playing out of the back with the trust she places in her entire back line.

Addison Huber | Goalkeeper
DKSC 07 (TX)

One of two newcomers to DKSC 07 this season, which this team was in the Elite Eight at Nationals in Richmond earlier this year. She has transitioned well as the only goalkeeper for the team, with a 1.09 Goals Against Average. Huber and her defense are coming into this showcase in fine form, with their two most recent Texas Conference games ending with shutouts.

Tennessee Soccer Club 06/05 (TN)

A central defender with imposing athleticism, Newton possesses a solid defense ability and impressive skill in possession. Her aerial ability makes her a threat on set pieces. She scored last week in her last conference game. She plays every minute and is a big impact player on her undefeated team (3-0-1, 10 points).

Aaliyah Pitts | Defender
Tampa Bay United 06 (FL)

Named to the Southeast All-Conference First Team last season, Pitts is a highly sound defender that can make the quick tackle and immediately start building the attack. Her key interceptions and timely tackles have helped Tampa Bay remain in the thick of a tight Southeast Conference (3-3-2, 11 points). Last season, she also participated in the January National Selection Game.

Florida West 07 (FL)

A 2025 Dartmouth verbal commit, Knoth earned Southeast All-Conference Second Team honors last season for her efforts between the posts for Florida West. For Barron Collier High School, she was named to the 2023 All-Area soccer team as well as the District All Stars roster.

Orlando City Youth Soccer 07 (FL)

Led Orlando City to a 5-1-2 record on 17 points while allowing just 12 goals in Conference play during the fall. Lopez possesses excellent footwork and can make the tough diving saves in traffic to end attacking chances. She is also a regular for the Puerto Rico Youth National Team, having featured for their U17s last year in CONCACAF W Championship Qualifying.

Portland Thorns Academy 06/05 (OR)

Last season, Joseph had a breakout season for the Thorns using her speed and lockdown defensive work to propel the team to a Northwest Conference title and an appearance in the ECNL National Playoffs Round of 16. Playing as either a wingback or outside back, Joseph can spring the counter-attack with her superb footwork and strong first touch. She has verbally committed to Rutgers for the fall of 2025.

Alexis Cockerill-Gonzalez | Defender
Portland Thorns Academy 06/05 (OR)

Operating as either a wingback or outside back, Cockerill-Gonzales serves as the linchpin of the Thorns defense. Her aggressive play, speed, and anticipation often helps start the counterattack for her team (she can also play at forward). She is part of a back line that has only given up one goal so far in Northwest Conference play. Cockerill-Gonzalez has verbally committed to Oregon for the fall of 2025.

SLSG Navy 07 (MO)

Sadie’s vision, high soccer IQ, and calm composure helped lead her team to an IL State Championship title in 2023. Her precise ball delivery and control during high intensity games gives her team a clear advantage. Whether playing for her club team St Louis Scott Gallagher or her O’Fallon, IL high school she does whatever it takes to keep possession in the middle and give her team the best opportunity to win big games. In 2023 Sadie earned nominations for All Sectional Player, First Team All Conference Player , All Academic Player, and her first state title ring.

Prototypical positional goalkeeper that uses her position and size to cut the size of the goal and make it difficult for attacking player when finishing on frame. She earned eight shutouts for TSC en route to the side winning the Ohio Valley Conference in 2023. Coming off a TSSAA AA State Championship where she finished with 124 saves, 11 shutouts, and was named to the All-State Team.

Portland Thorns Academy 07 (OR)

London’s calm presence and technical ability were instrumental in her team’s undefeated weekend. Her vision and spatial awareness led to countless dangerous attacking moments London made a key pass leading to a goal against Ohio Premier and she scored a brilliant goal after winning the ball and combining to get forward in the team’s third game of the weekend against DKSC.

2024

Galvanized the Fire attack during the fall (22 goals scored) with her strong diagonal runs towards goal and perfect placement of her shots and passes. A member of her high school track and field team (she is a two-time All-State honoree and placed second in the 400meters in last year’s competition), Quarterman can immediately turn on the burners with just a simple move past a defender. Camille was named to the All-Southeast Conference Team last season for the Fire.

Avery Paulson | Forward
GSA 06/05 (GSA)

Pulls the strings of a GSA attack that has scored 45 goals in Southeast Conference 06/05 play this season (second most among all teams in her age group). Playing out on the left wing, Paulsen can make small cuts against defenders to break free and create goal-scoring opportunities. For the Fellowship Christian school last spring she was integral to the team winning the 2A Georgia High School Championship, earning Player of the Year honors. Paulsen has committed to playing college soccer next year at Liberty.

Gabrielle Justiniano | Defender-Midfielder
East Meadow SC 06/05 (NY)

Operating out of the defensive midfield, Justiniano provides organization and leadership for an EMSC team that is difficult to breakdown. Her track backs and timely clearances give her teammates ample time to reorganize and her strong communication skills allow for them to receive real-time instructions on how to plug gaps in the defense.

Coming off of a strong high school season in which she earned All-American as well as New York State Player of the Year honors, Costello will look to translate that success this winter and spring to SUSA. She is a two-time ECNL North Atlantic All-Conference honoree and has committed to playing college soccer next fall at William and Mary.

An Oregon commit, Chase is a dominant force in the midfield, with her box-to-box athleticism and exceptional ability to win balls in the air. Cloe is a ECNL Northwest All-Conference player and was pivotal in helping her team advance to the round of 16 at the 2023 ECNL National Playoffs. She just finished up her high school career where she netted 118 goals over the course of her four years and was named High School Athlete of the Year.

Ella Callanan | Midfielder

Callanan is a quick, athletic, attacking minded outside back/wingback that helps set the pace for the Thorns. She makes excellent reads on what the opposition is thinking and uses her technical skills to counter their advances. She is part of a back line that has only given up one goal so far in Northwest Conference play. Callanan has committed to playing college soccer in 2024 at San Diego.

Shaela Bradley | Midfielder
Portland Thorns Academy 06/05 (OR)

A member of the USWYNT U18/U19 Pool, Shaela is a technically dynamic attacking midfield with a nose for the goal. She lead her team with 25 goals and a ticket to the final 16 teams at the 2023 ECNL National Playoffs and continues to be an impact player in the NW Conference league play. Shaela was named a 2023 High School All-American and finished her high school career scoring 137 goals over her 4 years. She will continue her soccer career at Rutgers in the fall of 2024.

A TCU commit for next fall, Abby was a first team Northwest All-Conference selection and helped lead her team to the final round of 16 at the 2023 ECNL National Playoffs. The quick, technical and athletic center midfielder was named 2023 Oregon High School Soccer Player of the year and was a 2023 High School All-American.

Stiles leads a backline that has allowed just one goal during Northwest Conference play this season. A Rutgers commit, she was also named to her All-Conference team last season and was integral National Playoff run. Stiles can make the decisive clear off of the goal line and is equally effective in ending attacking chances with a pass to the outside.

World Class FC 06 (NY)

The 2022-2023 ECNL Northeast Conference Player of the Year last season, Jenkins enters the 2023-2024 season having just led her high school team to their second state championship. For her efforts, she was named the Most Valuable Player for the final and earned All-American honors. She has committed to playing college soccer next fall at Connecticut.
