Girls Academy National Finals conclude as league titles are decided in U14-U17 age groups

The Girls Academy’s 2021-2022 season has officially come to a close, after the GA National Finals wrapped up Sunday in Missouri.

After an exciting round of semifinals, four national championship games took place on Sunday, July 10 across the GA’s U14-U17 age groups. The champions that were decided this weekend joined the U13 and U19 winners, who were previously crowned at the GA Summer Playoffs. Colorado Rush won it all at the U13 level, while FC Bay Area Surf captured the U19 title.

Alongside the GA National Finals, top players from around the country participated in the 2022 GA National Talent ID Event. To view the rosters for the 2005-2008 age groups from the Talent ID Event, click here.

See below for a rundown of the GA’s U14-U17 national champions:

U14 | Nationals SC completed their perfect season by claiming the GA’s top honor at the U14 level, finishing things off with a 4-2 victory over Tophat in the title match. The Michigan powerhouse had an unblemished, 24-0-0 record in the regular season with a remarkable 89-5 goal differential. They continued their dominance in the postseason, outscoring opponents 30-3 across 6 total playoff games.

U15 | The St. James FC Virginia took the GA’s U15 championship trophy back to Northern Virginia after a hard-fought defensive battle against NEFC ended with a 1-0 win in the final. TSJ FC Virginia defeated host club Lou Fusz SC by the same scoreline in the semifinals, as their defense came up huge with back-to-back- clean sheets when it counted most.

U16 | ALBION SC San Diego put the final touches on an undefeated regular season and postseason campaign, taking down Lonestar SC 3-1 in the semifinals before a 2-0 shutout of South Shore Select in the title match. ALBION had an unblemished 10-0-0 record playing in the GA’s Southwest Conference during the regular season, and they swept Bracket G during the group stage of the playoffs before finishing things off with a National Championship in Missouri.

U17 | Oakwood SC followed up their 1st place regular season finish in the GA’s Northeast Conference by going on to take the national trophy home to Connecticut. They managed to go 3-0-0 in a tough bracket during the group stage of the GA Summer Playoffs, earning wins over Sockers FC Chicago, IMG Academy and Clovis Crossfire. During the knockout stages, Oakwood prevailed over TSJ FC Virginia in the quarterfinals, edged out Lonestar SC in the semifinals and prevailed over Florida United in the championship.
