Jefferson Cup 2018 Championship Division Preview: U-18 Girls

With the 2018 Jefferson Cup fast approaching, SoccerWire.com continues its article series previewing the top divisions for the showcase age groups. In this edition, we take a look at the teams competing in the U-18 Girls Championship Division.

Chattanooga FC Academy 00 Premier (TN)
Coach: Luidgi Beauzile

Tennessee side Chattanooga FC Academy 00 Premier is holding onto second place in the Southern Regional Premier League’s highly competitive U-18 Premier Division, with a 5-1-1 record through their first seven games. They are tied with first place Sunrise Sting for the most goals scored with 18, and have earned three clean sheets on the defensive side. They placed third in the Jefferson Cup’s U-17 Superior Black Division last year, winning two of three games while conceding just two total goals.

GPS-MA Elite 00 Red (MA)
Coach: Lee Moyce

US Club Soccer Massachusetts State Cup champion GPS-MA Elite 00 Red is well established as a force in the Northeast region in the ’00 age group. The team is coming off a first place finish in the New England Girls NPL, with a 7-2-0 record during the spring season, and a division-high 26 goals. In showcase competition, GPS won the Super Group of their home club’s Memorial Day Tournament last May, defeating a strong South Shore Select side 6-4 in a high-scoring title match.

HBC Impact 00 (NY)
Coach: William Carroll

2017 was truly a banner year for HBC Impact, which not only captured the US Youth Soccer New York East State Cup title, but also the coveted US Youth Soccer Region I Championship as well. The team went on to advance all the way to the semifinals of the US Youth Soccer National Championships, before finishing the year with a division title run in the top bracket of the prestigious Bethesda Premier Cup. In addition, HBC placed first in the Region I Eastern Regional League, running the table with a perfect 6-0-0 record, 17 goals scored and only two allowed.

Lower Merion SC Storm (PA)
Coach: Pete Gangl

Eastern Pennsylvania squad Lower Merion SC Storm will get another challenge at this year’s Jefferson Cup as it looks to sustain a long run of continued success. LMSC is a reigning US Youth Soccer State Cup champion, and finished as a semifinalist in the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships. The team also placed first in the Region I Eastern Regional League last spring, posting a 6-1-0 record, while conceding a division-low six goals on the season. Recently, they placed second in the top flight at the EDP Cup Fall Showcase.

NJ Stallions 00 Stampede NPL (NJ)
Coach: Shaun Cryer

The 2017 US Club Soccer National Cup champion NJ Stallions 00 Stampede has had major success in national competition over the past year, winning regional and national titles. Prior to their championship run at the National Cup, NJ Stallions captured the US Club Soccer Mid-Atlantic Regional title, defeating PDA Shore in the final.  They also finished as semifinalists in the US Youth Soccer New Jersey State Cup and placed third in the US Youth Soccer National League’s U-17 Blue Division during the 2016-2017 campaign.

NVSC Jr. Majestics 00 (VA)
Coach: Chris Jones

D.C. area powerhouse NVSC Jr. Majestics 00 makes the leap to the Jefferson Cup’s Championship Division after winning the US Youth Soccer Virginia State Cup title in the fall of 2017. The team was also a national semifinalist last summer in the US Club Soccer NPL Finals, and tied for the best record in the 2017 Jeff Cup’s U-17 Superior Orange Division. They did not allow a single goal at the event, shutting out all three opponents.

PDA Shore Revolution (NJ)
Coach: Lee Pollard

Representing one of the nation’s top clubs, PDA Shore Revolution has fared extremely well in top showcase events over the past year. PDA won division championships at the 2017 Bethesda Premier Cup and the Manhattan SC Kick-Off Classic. They advanced all the way to the finals of the 2017 US Club Soccer Mid-Atlantic Regional, and placed second in the EDP Open Cup during the fall. They posted a strong 2-1-0 record in last year’s Jefferson Cup, placing fourth out of 12 teams in the U-17 Platinum Orange Division.

Pipeline SC Pre-Academy (MD)
Coach: Douglas Pryor

Maryland State Cup champion Pipeline SC Pre-Academy has been dominant across various competitions over the last several seasons, in both league and showcase play. In addition to their state title run, Pipeline captured division championships at the VisitRaleigh.com Girls Showcase (Formerly the CASL Showcase) and the Bethesda Premier Cup. They finished second out of 12 teams in the 2017 Jefferson Cup’s Superior Black Division, finishing with an unbeaten 2-0-1 record, and a division-high seven goals scored.

Princeton SA 00 Elite (NJ)
Coach: Massimo Cedraschi

Reigning US Youth Soccer New Jersey State Cup champion and Region I Championships finalist Princeton SA 00 Elite has finished at or near the top of almost every competition it has entered since the start of 2017. The squad won the top flight of the EDP Cup Fall Showcase in November, and they captured the Manhattan Kick-Off Classic showcase title in March. Along with their USYS state title, Princeton placed second in the US Club Soccer NJ Cup state tournament. They also finished second in the Region I Eastern Regional League last spring, posting a 5-1-1 record while leading the division with 33 goals.

SOCA 00 Elite (VA)
Coach: Dan Ensley

A finalist in the US Youth Soccer Virginia State Cup this past fall, Charlottesville’s SOCA 00 Elite is one of Region I’s top teams in the ’00 age group. SOCA has swept its first 10 games this season in the Club Champions League, where it placed second at the U-17 level during the 2016-2017 campaign. In showcase competition, SOCA has captured division titles at the WAGS Tournament and the Labor Day Blue Ridge Cup since the start of 2017.

SUSA NPL 99/00 (NY)
Coach: Jaime Gonzalez

Long Island’s SUSA NPL 99/00 is consistently one of the teams to beat in the highly competitive New York Club Soccer League’s NPL division. The team finished second in their 10-team division last spring, compiling a 7-2-0 record in league play, while outscoring opponents 33-11. Last summer, SUSA advanced all the way to the finals of the US Club Soccer National Cup, competing in the U-17 Super Group. They closed out 2017 by finishing as semifinalists at the prestigious National Elite Women’s Soccer Showcase (NEWSS).

SJEB Rush 00 Academy (NJ)
Coach: Rich Owens

One of the top teams in the Elite Development Program (EDP), SJEB Rush 00 Academy is coming of a 2017 in which they captured a division title at the EDP Cup Spring Showcase, and placed second in the EDP Open Cup. SJEB also finished as a semifinalist in the EDP Cup Spring Showcase and the EDP Easter Showcase, while placing second in the league’s 1st Division Central in the spring season.
