Virginia Youth Soccer Association set to enter Phase 3 of return-to-play

The Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) is entering Phase 3 of its return-to-play process on July 1, as youth soccer clubs around the state begin to allow full team training sessions and gameplay.

With COVID-19 lockdowns easing across Virginia, soccer organizations operating under VYSA’s guidelines will be moving forward with a return to competition this summer. Under Phase 3, most of the guidelines are focused on limiting the number of total number of people on site at soccer facilities, and emphasizing social distancing.

Total attendance at all field locations is required to be kept under 250 people at any given time. Ten feet of physical distancing is required at all times when practical, with the exception of on-field training and games. Full contact competition is permitted under Phase 3.

The guidelines advise that all participants should stay home if they are experiencing any potential COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19, and anyone who has a fever over 100 degrees, is required to stay home for at least 14 days.
