Boise, Idaho (Via US Youth Soccer) – Champions were crowned at the 2016 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships today with the Under-13 through Under-19 champions earning a berth to the 2016 US Youth Soccer National Championships, July 25-31 at Toyota Soccer Complex in Frisco, Texas. Under-14 through Under-18 Boys and Girls Finals were streamed live. All of the matches can be seen here
Cal South took home the most regional titles with seven, while Cal North won three, Washington won two, Nevada won one and Oregon had a team win a regional title for the first time since 2010. After six teams entered the tournament looking to defend their regional titles, Under-17 Boys Seattle United 98 Copa (WA) was the only side that won back-to-back regional titles.

Under-13 Girls: So Cal Blues Baker (CA-S) vs SD Surf Academy (CA-S)
So Cal Blues won the club’s second straight Under-13 Girls Region IV Championships after defeating fellow Southern California team SD Surf Academy 1-0 in the finals. Reilyn Turner scored her eighth goal of the tournament, which put her in a tie for the most in the age group with fellow U.S. Under-14 National Team player Simone Jackson to put Blues up in the 28th minute, and the Blues defense would produce a clean sheet for the 1-0 win.
Under-14 Girls: USA Stars 02 (CA-N) vs. Fullerton Rangers 01 White (CA-S) Watch Replay
USA Stars 02 edged out Fullerton Rangers 01 White 1-0 to advance to the National Championships. Lauren Helwig scored her fourth goal of the tournament in the 35th minute to take the 1-0 lead, and USA Stars secured its fifth straight clean sheet to claim the regional title.
Under-15 Girls: Rebels SC White (CA-S) vs FC Salmon Creek 00 Nemesis (OR) Watch Replay
FC Salmon Creek used three early goals in the first half to move past Rebels SC White and claim the Under-15 Girls title. MacKenzie Frimpong began the scoring 10 minutes into the match, and Ava Bendetti would double Salmon Creek’s lead three minutes later with her goal. Malaika Quigley added another goal for the Oregon side in the 21st minute to make the score 3-0. Rebels would receive a goal from Jacqueline Barrientos in the 61st minute, but Salmon Creek would hold on for the 3-1 win.
Under-16 Girls: La Roca Premier PO (UT) vs Legends FC 99 (CA-S) Watch Replay
La Roca Premier and Legends FC battled for the second time this tournament, the two sides also played twice at the 2015 National Championships in group play and in the national finals, where Legends claimed its second National Championships. It was the Southern California side prevailing again with a 1-0 win thanks to Alexandra Jaquez’s goal in the 11th minute. Both sides will be heading to the National Championships due to La Roca qualifying by winning the US Youth Soccer National League Red Division.
Under-17 Girls: Eastside FC 98 Red (UT) vs. Celtic Storm Premier (UT) Watch Replay
Eastside FC will head back to the National Championships after a year hiatus due to the a 2-0 win over Celtic Storm 99 Premier (UT). The 2013 Region IV and National Champions got on the board when 2013 National Championships Golden Ball winner Joanna Harber found the back of the net in the 78th minute. Alexa Kirton doubled Eastside’s lead just four minutes later to give her side the 2-0 lead, and ultimately the regional title.
Under-18 Girls: Beach FC Academy 97 Joyner (CA-S) vs FC Nove 97/98 (ID) Watch Replay
2014 Region IV and National Champions Beach FC used a Daria Petredes penalty kick goal to defeat hometown FC Nova. In the 85th minute, Under-20 U.S. National Team Player Savannah DeMelo was taken down in the box. Fellow Youth National Team player Petredes knocked home the penalty kick to punch her side’s ticket to the National Championships. Beach, who has reached the national finals in the last two years, will look to win its second National Championship in Frisco.
Under-13 Boys: Strikers FC Chingirian (CA-S) vs. FC Alliance 02A (WA)
Reagan Wortmann’s goal in the third minute was the difference as Strikers FC Chingirian defeated FC Alliance 1-0 in the Under-13 Boys finals. Wortmann, who scored off a corner-kick, scored his first goal of the tournament in important time to give his team a spot in the National Championships.
Under-14 Boys: Eastside Timbers Ajax (OR) vs. LVSA 02 Red (NV) Watch Replay
LVSA 02 Red punched its ticket to the National Championships with a 2-0 win over Eastside Timbers Ajax (OR). After both sides needed overtime to win their respective semifinals matches, the finals would end in regulation as LVSA received goals from Caden Buckley in the 33rd minute and Jimmy Villasenor in the 60th minute.
Under-15 Boys: SC Sporting 00 Green (CA-N) vs Rio Rapids SC 01 (NM) Watch Replay
Extra time was needed to determine a winner between SC Sporting and Rio Rapids when the score after regulation was 1-1. 2015 US Youth Soccer ODP Region IV Championships All-Tournament team member Skylor Rose broke the scoreless stalemate in the 46th minute for Rio, but Andrew Lirios-Ramos would equalize for Sporting just eight minutes later. Two minutes into extra time Francisco Dominguez gave Sporting its first lead with his goal, and the Northern California side would hold on for the 2-1 win.
Under-16 Boys: Strikers FC North (CA-S) vs EC Real Pumas (CA-N) Watch Replay
Strikers FC North erased a 1-0 deficit to defeat EC Real 2-1 and claim the regional title. Pedro Cortes gave EC Real the 1-0 lead in the 36th minute, but John Dauphin equalized for Strikers right before halftime. Alex Ayala would net the eventual game-winner in the 50th minute.
Under-17 Boys: Seattle United 98 Copa (WA) vs. LA Premier FC White (CA-S) Watch Replay
Defending Region IV Champions and national finalists Seattle United secured a second straight trip to the National Championships with a 2-0 win over LA Premier FC. Brannon Jong began the scoring in the 16th minute by finishing off a cross from the left flank. Vincente Aquino Contreras put the match out of reach by doubling Seattle’ lead in the 88th minute to give his side its second straight regional title.
Under-18 Boys: South San Jose PAC Indios (CA-N) vs. DMS 11 Academy (CA-S) Watch Replay
PAC Indios will head back to the National Championships after the 2015 Region IV finalists defeated DMS11 Academy 2-0. Albert Munante scored his age group-leading eighth goal of the tournament to put the Northern California side up 1-0, and Angel Gil-Briseno added a second for PAC for the 2-0 win.
Under-19 Boys: FC Golden State (CA-S) vs. Arizona Arsenal 97 Premier Teal (AZ)
Defending National Champions FC Golden State earned a return trip to nationals after a 3-0 win over Arizona Arsenal. 2015 National Championships Golden Ball winner Gabriel Costa began the scoring in the 65th minute, and Maicon Abreu would add a pair of goals in the span of three minutes to make the score 3-0. FC Golden State will now play for the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sports, at the 2016 National Championships.
