In this edition we will showcase Alena Raymundo, who plays for Lamorinda SC in the Girls Academy, and has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I soccer for the University of Central Florida in 2028.

What made you decide to verbally commit to UCF?
I chose UCF because I’ve built a strong connection with the program through years of attending camps and getting to know the coaches. The coaching staff’s experience, mentorship, and belief in my development made the decision easy.
What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?
One word: FAST. Recruiting opened on June 15, and I committed on June 16. While the timeline was quick, the preparation leading up to it was years in the making. UCF was my number one choice from the beginning, and when I received a text from Coach Tiff on June 15, I felt like everything had come together, and it was meant to be.
How do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Knights?
My strengths fit UCF’s possession-based style of play perfectly. As a midfielder, my technical ability, composure on the ball, and ability to connect play will help UCF continue to be successful.
What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?
Math is my favorite subject. I haven’t chosen a major yet, but I’m interested in sports science / athletic performance and hope to study something in that field.
What has your experience been like playing for Lamorinda SC in the Girls Academy?
Playing for Lamorinda has been a lot of fun. The high-level training and opportunity to play alongside top players committed to Division I programs has helped develop my game. The Girls Academy has provided me with exposure on a national stage through events like the National Identification and Generation Adidas Cup.
What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have ever owned?
My favorite pair of cleats was the Neymar x Nike Mercurial. I grew up watching Neymar, and I got a pair when I was about seven years old. I even had the matching ball!
If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?
Focus on the work no one sees. The extra training, touches on the ball, and time spent practicing on your own are what separates you from the rest. Dream big and believe in yourself. Most importantly, stay internally motivated because no one can work for your goals but you.
Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?
I’d like to give a huge shoutout to my family, my coaches at Lamorinda, and my ODP coaches. I’d also like to thank SoccerWire for being a valuable part of my recruiting process. With God, all things are possible.
