Players That Impressed: Girls Club Soccer – October 2022

The Fall 2022 youth soccer season is in full swing, and many of the top players in the country have helped their teams get off to fast starts.

SoccerWire is currently seeking Players That Impressed nominations for girls club soccer competition, across the U13-U19 age groups. Coaches, parents and athletes are invited to submit nominations for up to two (2) players per team, highlighting this month’s standout performances.

Savannah Leifried


Racked up 3 assists and added a goal to her score line in a win over Davis Legacy ECNL 2008. With a outstanding performance, showing her true talent at controlling the tempo of the match and vision for the game .


Sloane Phillips


Dominated the midfield during her team’s tough 3-2 win over San Juan SC at the ECNL San Diego National Event. Phillips assisted the first goal for Legends to tie it up before halftime with a beautifully placed cross to set up a great finish by Alondra Talamantes. She also set up the game-winner with 5 minutes remaining, sending in a perfectly-placed free kick which was tapped in by Abigail Coppolo.


Britt Raisey | Goalkeeper
FC Dallas 2008 ECNL (TX)

Worked with the FC Dallas back line to secure a clean sheet as they were able to earn a tough 1-0 win against Sting Royal to kickoff the month.

NC Courage Academy 2007 ECNL (NC)

Continued her strong start to the season with another clean sheet performance – her team’s second in a row – against fellow North Carolina side Charlotte Soccer Academy, in a 2-0 victory.


Zea Gonzalez | Forward
Sting Austin 2008 ECNL (TX)

Gonzalez and her team opened up the month of October with a pair of wins against Oklahoma ECNL teams OEFC and Tulsa SC. Over the course of the weekend, Gonzalez and her teammates were relentless offensively. She beat 3 defenders and the keeper on an impressive goal against Oklahoma Energy, and she added an assist against Tulsa.

Oklahoma Energy FC 2007 ECNL (OK)

Finished a strong weekend between the posts with back-to-back clean sheets, as OEFC cruised to a pair of ECNL Texas Conference victories.


Mary Long

Forward Midfielder

Turned in a strong opening weekend for the month of October playing with the KC Athletics 2005 squad. Long had 1 goal and 2 assists over the course of back-to-back Midwest Conference wins.

Led an ironclad defensive front that earned the clean sheet against Florida Elite ECNL with a 4-0 victory on October 16.


Holly Storer | Forward
FC Dallas 2007 ECNL (TX)

Found the net twice in a six-minute span during the second half to power FC Dallas’ to a 2-0 win over Sting in ECNL Texas Conference competition on October 2.


Elizabeth Thornton | Goalkeeper
Loudoun Soccer 2007 ECNL (VA)

Combined with Loudoun’s back line to notch a clean sheet against Northern Virginia foe Arlington Soccer in ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference U16 action.


Katheryn Wyrick | Defender
Sting Austin 2007 ECNL (TX)

Strong utility player in a matchup against TSC Hurricane that ended in a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Wyrick was able to easily move from left back to midfield to defender again, in a series of tactical moves.


Valentina Navetta


Provided the assist to teammate Sydney Ridnour on the game-winning goal for BVB Texas 2006 in Girls Academy action against Renegades SC.

Sarah Spears


The midfielder had a major impact both offensively and defensively in her team’s draw against LAFC So Cal Youth 2006 ECNL. In a game which Eagles SC entered as the underdog, Spears helped her side earn a point by starting possessions in the defensive third, and advancing through the midfield into the attacking side.

Megan Murray


Murray and her team opened up October with two back to back wins and six points in Girls Academy Mid-America Conference play against Michigan Jaguars and Central Illinois United. Murray and her teammates were relentless offensively, and she scored an impressive game-winning goal on a free kick set play.

Recorded a brace for Oklahoma Energy as her side kicked off October with a 6-1 win over Sting Austin. Johnson was 1 out of 5 players to find the net for OEFC.

Unstoppable in her team’s 5-3 victory over Dallas Texans 2006 ECNL. Fults had a hat trick and an assist in the match, as all 3 of her goals came amid a second half explosion for OEFC.

Proved to be unstoppable during her team’s October 1st matchup against Liverpool MI ECNL, scoring twice and adding an assist during the 4-1 victory.

University of Arkansas commit Bella Field paced the Sporting Blue Valley 2004/2005 offense on the opening weekend of October, scoring 3 goals over the course of 2 Midwest Conference wins.
