Wake Forest men’s soccer team adds Tareq Shihab to 2021 signing class

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest men’s soccer has added Tareq Shihab to the 2021 signing class. Shihab has come through Brighton & Hove Albion’s Academy and been a member of England’s U15 and U17 National Teams.

“We are thrilled to add a player of Tareq’s level to our 2021 recruiting class,” said associate head coach Dane Brenner. “Tareq is a technically gifted and athletic midfielder that comes into Wake Forest with an impressive resume. Tareq has represented the England National Team at the youth levels as well as time at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Academy. Tareq is a player with a high work rate and a humble mentality that will serve him well during his time here at Wake Forest.

“We look forward to getting him on campus and beginning his journey through college soccer.”

Shihab spent five years in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Academy and has collected seven caps for England’s U15 and U17 National Teams.

He is the ninth member of this year’s No. 3 nationally ranked signing class, joining Babacar Niang, Ryan Fessler, Bo Cummins, Roald Mitchell, Trace Alphin, Leo Guarino, Nicolas Mancilla and Julian Kennedy. The staff is continuing to work hard to finalize the class in the next few months.
