University of Denver announces departure of women’s soccer head coach Jeff Hooker

The University of Denver has announced that longtime women’s soccer head coach Jeff Hooker is departing the program after a three-decade long tenure.

A brief press release was issued by the university of Monday stating that Hooker would not be returning for his 32nd season with the Pioneers. Since beginning his time at the helm of the Denver women’s soccer program in 1992, Hooker accumulated more than 400 wins.

Hooker led Denver to 12 regular season conference titles over the years and 11 conference tournament championships. He earned Summit League Coach of the Year honors in 2018, 2019 and 2021, and prior to that won numerous awards during Denver’s time in the Sun Belt Conference and once in the Western Athletic Conference. He also coached the Denver men’s soccer program for two seasons from 1996-1997.

DENVER – Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Ritchie Center Operations Josh Berlo announced that Jeff Hooker will not be returning for the 2023 season. Hooker completed his 31st season at the helm in November and leaves as the school’s all-time leader in victories. 

A search for the next Pioneer head women’s soccer coach will begin immediately.
