UCLA women’s soccer adds former Bruin Chelsea Tudela to coaching staff

Chelsea Tudela, a member of UCLA‘s 2013 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship team, is returning to UCLA as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bruins.

The former Chelsea Braun played at UCLA from 2010-13 and saw action in over 50 games in her career. She helped the Bruins capture the 2013 Pac-12 and NCAA titles, and earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors in 2012. She graduated in 2014 with a degree in Communication Studies and earned the Athletic Director’s Academic Excellence Award for making the Director’s Honor Roll every quarter she was at UCLA.

Tudela is the Youth Academy Director, coach and content creator at Tudela Futbol Club Los Angeles, an all-girls youth soccer club in the heart of Los Angeles that provides opportunities and high-level training and experience to girls of all socio-economic situations. She also runs a fully-subsidized training program for girls 5-8 years old, called “Today U Dream It” (TUDI).

“I am so happy to welcome Chelsea back to Westwood,” said UCLA head coach Margueritte Aozasa. “She brings an incredible ability to connect with our student-athletes through her experience here as part of a national championship team. Also, Chelsea is a pioneer in player development and will give our staff another element in supporting our players’ growth.”

Tudela rounds out Aozasa’s coaching staff, which also includes assistant coaches Gof Boyoko and Molly Poletto.

“Knowing the impact the program had on me as a player, I’m hungry to dive in with this incredible coaching staff to create something truly special,” Tudela said. “It’s been surreal to join the Bruin family again, and I can’t wait to get started. I can’t stop smiling!”
