Saint Francis University women’s soccer welcomes 10-player recruiting class

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis University women’s soccer has welcomed its newest freshman class on campus for the fall semester, featuring a variety of experience and enthusiasm.

These 10-student athletes bring a diverse skill set to the Red Flash and will help bolster an already deep roster.

The coronavirus pandemic has postponed the fall sports season, but head coach Ellie Davis can’t wait to start training.

“We are having meetings right now and they are already contributing to discussions there,” said Davis. “As players they cover the field in many different positions through the lines.  These student-athletes come from several states and club teams that give them a variety of experience both on and off the field.  We know they are good in the classroom and will get involved in activities around campus.”

Here is a closer look at the new class.

Rory Schaeffer (Buffalo, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart)
Buffalo, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart/Niagara International FC
Schaeffer comes to Saint Francis after a successful four-year playing career at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart. Schaeffer scored nine goals, while adding 32 assists for her high school squad. She was twice named team captain and earned first team All-Catholic All-Star honors in 2018 and 2019.

Alex Parra (Chantilly, Va./Paul VI Catholic)
Chantilly, Pa./Paul VI Catholic/Virginia Development Academy ECNL
Parra joins the Red Flash following a standout high school career that included receiving an invite to the Colombian U17 National team training camp. At Paul VI Catholic High School, Parra was named team captain in 2019-20

Kaylah Gankiewicz (Stephenson, Va./James Wood)
Stephenson, Va./James Wood/Metro United DA
Gankiewicz comes to Saint Francis after a stellar high school career in which she received several individual and team accolades. At James Wood High School, Gankiewicz scored 25 goals, while adding six assists in her freshman and junior seasons. Gankiewicz was a nominee in the Women’s Premier Soccer League International Combine in 2018.

Julianna Marshall (North Versailles Pa./Serra Catholic)
North Versailles Pa./Serra Catholic/Riverhounds Academy ECNL
Marshall joins the Red Flash following a four-year high school career where she excelled in the classroom. The goalkeeper was a team captain her senior year and was named All-Section in 2018 and 2019.

Paige Theobald (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic)
Tinton Falls, N.J./ Red Bank Catholic/Cedar Stars Academy DA
Theobald comes to Saint Francis after four years on a highly successful program at Red Bank Catholic High School. Her team was ranked in the top five in the state of New Jersey and was the Non-Public A State Champions in 2016 and Shore Conference Champions in 2019.

Jocelyn Billingsly (Woodbridge, Va./St. John Paul the Great Catholic)
Woodbridge, Va./St. John Paul the Great Catholic/Metro United DA
Billingsly joins the Red Flash after a standout high school career at St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School. Billingsly also competed at Metro United DA where she scored three goals, had three assists and was named team captain in 2020.

Sarah McConnon (Springfield, PA/Lower Merion Club)
Springfield, PA/Lower Merion Club/South Jersey Elite DA
McConnon joins the Red Flash after a four-year career at Lower Merion Club and South Jersey Elite DA where she played goalkeeper…Her team at Lower Merion was state champions.  McConnon enrolled early at Saint Francis in spring 2020.

Noa Dorah (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair)
Takoma Park, MD/Montgomery Blair H.S./ Bethesda Threat ECNL
Dorah was a four-year letter winner and team captain at Montgomery Blair where she scored 40 goals and led the Blazers to four Division Championships. As a senior, she recorded 19 goals and 10 assists. She played club for Bethesda Threat of the ECNL.

Claire Miko (Medina, Ohio/Medina)
Medina, OH/Medina High School/Cleveland FC
An all-conference selection at Medina High School and four year letter winner, Miko captained her team to a State Semifinals as a senior. In her four seasons, Medina compiled a 66-7-7 record. She also played club for Cleveland FC.

Colletta Ozbey (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Chartiers Valley)
Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley/Beadling FC
Ozbey was a four-year letter winner and team captain at Chartiers Valley. In four seasons, she registered 20 goals and 20 assists. She played club for Beadling FC and recorded five goals and 10 assists in 2019.
