ECNL Boys Top 25 Clubs honored while San Diego Surf is named Overall Club Champion

RICHMOND, Va. – The ECNL announced that San Diego Surf has won the 2022-2023 ECNL Boys Overall Club Championship. This honor is awarded to the club that has earned the highest total points from regular-season conference games and performance at the ECNL National Playoffs and Finals. Winning this championship requires consistent excellence across all age groups throughout the season.

“We’re very proud of the hard work and attitude of the players within the club and the program,” said San Diego Surf’s ECNL Boys Director Danny Tonks. “This award is a testament to the collective coaching staff, admin staff, and everyone in the club. It’s not down to just one or two people, it’s definitely a collective. We pride ourselves in our culture of trying to be selfless and together.”

Surf finished atop the Southwest Conference in the U18/19 age group this season and qualified five teams for the ECNL Boys National Playoffs in June. Surf also won three ECNL National Championships this summer, with their U18/19 team lifting the title in Greensboro, North Carolina, and their U13 and U16 teams capturing titles in Norco, California, in July.

“It’s fantastic to have the youngest, the oldest, and the in-between age groups get recognized for their success. We feel like it shows the overall program is consistent and going in the direction we want it to go,” Tonks said.

Finishing second in the Overall Club Championship was Crossfire Premier who captured the ECNL Boys U15 National Championship in Norco. Crossfire Premier won the Northwest Conference in three different age groups (U14, U15, U18/19) and qualified all six of their teams for the ECNL Boys National Playoffs, with three of them advancing to the ECNL Boys National Finals (U13, U15, U16).

Dallas Texans Academy finished third in the Overall Club Championship, after a season that saw them win the Texas Conference at the U16 age group, and qualify all six of their age groups for the ECNL Boys National Playoffs. Dallas Texans finished as the runners up in the U13 age group at the ECNL Boys National Finals, while their U18/19 team made it all the way to the semifinals in Greensboro.

Pipeline SC, who won the Mid-Atlantic Conference in three age groups (U14, U16, U17) and qualified all their teams to the ECNL Boys National Playoffs, and Legends FC who won the Southwest Conference in the U13 and U17 age groups and qualified five teams for the ECNL Boys National Playoffs, round out the top five clubs.
