DePaul men’s soccer to welcome five incoming freshmen in 2021

CHICAGO – DePaul men’s soccer head coach Mark Plotkin announced the signing of the incoming 2021 class on Friday. Five incoming freshmen are set to join the program later this summer.

“I am thankful Coach Keever and Coach Bushue do such a phenomenal job of identifying players early, initiating the relationships, and getting out to evaluate talent,” said Plotkin. “We were all able to see the domestic group play a number of times prior to the shutdown in March and develop relationships with this group.”

Charlie Clancy, who came into the recruiting picture late in the cycle, will join the Blue Demons from Surrey, England. Clancy played in the U18 Premier League and scored a pair of goals during the 2019-20 season with Swansea City FC. Clancy also played for Chelsea FC Academy previously.

Jack Brennan will join the Blue Demons after completing high school at Libertyville High School in Libertyville, Ill.. As a sophomore, Brennan scored to send Libertyville to the state semifinal. Brennan played club soccer with FC 1974.

Santiago Davila, a goalkeeper, heads to Lincoln Park after playing high school soccer at Wauwatosa Eest High School. The Wauwatosa, Wis. native played club soccer for FC Wisconsin Nationals.

Nathaniel Enriquez played at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, Ill. and signed last fall to play at DePaul. Enriquez provided key midfield play for Glenbard North and scored nine goals over his final two seasons. He also played for Eclipse Select and earned ENCL All-American honors.

Julian Saldana will join the Blue Demons after wrapping up his career at Dundee Crown High School in Chicago. Saldana played club soccer for Eclipse Select and was named to the ECNL All-American Team after the 2018-19 season.

“This group exemplifies everything we look for in a student-athlete; talented, hard-working individuals who will achieve high levels in the classroom and play with a chip on their shoulder on the field,” said Plotkin. “They are great people and will represent DePaul in the brightest light.”

The crop of newcomers will join the Blue Demons as the squad returns to campus later this summer. DePaul is finalizing its regular fall slate after the 2020 fall season was manipulated into a shortened 2021 spring season.

“While this is a smaller group than the last few years, we expect this group to have a tremendous impact from the start,” said Plotkin. In Guero, Juju, Santi, Jack, and Charlie we have a balanced group that continues to show our commitment to recruiting Chicago and the Midwest as well as adding some more international experience to the team in Charlie. We can’t wait for these five to join us in August.”
