D.C. United partners with Virginia Development Academy for U-23 program

WOODBRIDGE, VA – D.C. United has partnered with Virginia Development Academy (VDA) to operate the D.C. United U-23 program, which will feature top collegiate, international, and domestic players.

The objective is to provide a professional experience and create a professional pathway for players in the DMV area while continuing to support D.C. United by identifying potential players for Loudoun United and D.C. United.

The D.C. United U23 program, operated and managed by VDA, will train at James Long Park in Haymarket, Virginia.

D.C. United Academy Director Pat Ouckama stated: “D.C. United is proud to partner with VDA to provide a competitive platform at the U23 age group. Having a platform in place to monitor college-aged talent further solidifies the pathway to the professional teams under the D.C. United umbrella.”

D.C. United U23 Director/VDA Technical Director Matt Lacey stated: “We are extremely excited to be supporting the player development efforts of DC United. We are looking forward to welcoming the best talent in the DMV between the ages of 16-22 to train and play in a professional environment during the summer months.”

VDA Executive Director Quan Phan stated: ” In collaboration with D.C. United, we are excited for this opportunity as the D.C. United U23 program continues to connect the player pathway for the best players at all ages.”
