Lafayette College signs six men’s soccer recruits for 2021

EASTON, Pa.Lafayette College men’s soccer head coach Dennis Bohn announced the program has signed six student-athletes to its class of 2025.

MSOC Borden

Jack Borden will come to College Hill from Stockton, New Jersey, where he plays for The Pennington School as a center midfielder. He totaled five goals and 21 assists, and was a member of the MCT 2017 and 2018 Championship teams.

In 2017, he was named an All-Area Second Team selection by Times of Trenton and in 2018, was named an All-Area First Team selection by Times of Trenton and an All-Prep First Team selection by The Trentonian. Most recently, he was named All-Area Player of the Year by Times of Trenton and was a 2020 Bimbo Bakeries High School All-American selection.

Bordon also plays for Match Fit Academy and was a State Cup Finalist, Region 1 Champions in 2016 and was named an ECLN Player to Watch. He was also a member of the New York Red Bulls Youth Academy team that was ranked the second best team in the nation and received First Team and USL training call ups. He also competed in the New Jersey ODP and was selected for the regional team.

He is the son of Douglas and Christina Borden and has three siblings, Nick, Chris and Tessa.

Aydlett Jr.

Lawrence Aydlett, Jr. will come to College Hill from Reistertown, Maryland, where he was a four-year member and three-year starter for St. Paul’s School as a midfielder and striker. He led the team in scoring and assists his junior and senior seasons and was named team captain his senior season. Aydlett is a MIAA “A” All-Conference team selection as well as a DMV U.S. Soccer Training Center Selectee.

The 5-10 forward also plays for Baltimore Celtic Soccer Club where he was a two-time State Cup Champion, a two-time National League winner, a USYS Region 1 Finalist and was the national league’s third leading scorer.

He is the son of Lawrence Aydlett, Sr. and Dara Aydlett and has three siblings, Nyia, Kayla and Farah.

MSOC Huff

Griffin Huff will come to College Hill from Corning, New York, where he was a four-year starter in goal for Corning Painted Post High School. He is a two-time STAC All-Star and a 2019 Section Champion. Huff also plays for the Soaring Capitals based out of Elmira, New York, along with Empire United competing in the MLS NEXT Academy.

Huff is the son of Jon Huff and Tammy Hoff and has two brothers, Garrett and Grant.

MSOC Macchia

The next member of the Leopards incoming class is James Macchia. Macchia hails from Easton, Pennsylvania where he was a four-year member, three-year starter at goalkeeper for Notre Dame High School. He is a four-time district champion and the only the second athlete in Notre Dame history to win four-straight district championships.

In 2020, he was named to the Lehigh Valley Live All-Area Boys Soccer First Team and the Morning Call All-Area Boys Soccer Second Team. The 5-11 goalkeeper also plays for Eastern Northampton County Soccer Club.

Macchia is the son of Gregory and Margaret Macchia, and has four siblings, Sophia, Helina, Joseph and Gregorio.

MSOC Keating

Next in the Leopards Class of 2025 is Jack Keating. Keating will come to College Hill from Freehold, New Jersey, where he plays for Cedar Stars Academy-Monmouth, competing in the MLS NEXT Academy. Keating was nominated for Nike-ID and US Market Training and has been involved in the Olympic Development Program on both the state and regional level. The 6-1 center back was selected to train internationally in Brazil and England.

Keating is also a multi sport athlete, playing basketball throughout high school. He is the son of Matthew and Nicole Keating and has three siblings, Matthew, Nicolas and Kylie.

MSOC Ponieman

Coming from Albertson, New York, is Eric Ponieman who was a four-year starter for Herricks High School. He is a two-time team captain and was named an All-County selection and team MVP his junior season. Ponieman helped transform Herricks High School soccer into a consistent playoff participant, helping them reach the playoffs each year after the program only qualified once in previous decades. At the center midfield position, he netted 10 goals and totaled nine assists as a junior.

Ponieman also played for Metropolitan Oval and currently plays with the MLS NEXT Academy.

He is the son of Diego and Barbara Ponieman and has two siblings, Alan and Marc. His brother, Alan, plays soccer for Queens College.
