The St James FC Virginia celebrates club alum Emily Fox going No. 1 in NWSL Draft

The St James FC Virginia is celebrating club alum Emily Fox, who was drafted No. 1 overall in the NWSL Draft on Wednesday night by Racing Louisville FC.

Fox played for FC Virginia for more than 6 years before playing collegiately at the University of North Carolina.

“We are very proud of Emily for earning this opportunity to play professional soccer in the NWSL,” said Christian Cziommer, Technical Director for TSJ FC Virginia. “Emily was a long-time member of FC Virginia, playing many years for Coach Terry Foley. It is great to see her growth as a player from her youth career, to college at UNC, and now to being drafted by Racing Louisville FC. She is an inspiration to our current players and we look forward to following her journey in the NWSL and with the U.S. Women’s National Team.”

Fox is currently participating in the first U.S. Women’s National Team camp of 2021.

This is the second year in a row that TSJ FC Virgnia had a player drafted. In the 2020 NWSL Draft, club alum Meaghan Nally was selected by the Portland Thorns.
