The Richmond Strikers have announced that the 2020 Jefferson Cup will resume in August, with two weekends of competition.

After the coronavirus pandemic caused the postponement of three out of four originally scheduled weekends in March, the prestigious tournament will move forward with its first-ever summer edition.

All teams that were accepted for the tournament in March will have their entry fees waived for the summer events. The event is also accepting new applications for teams that were not scheduled to compete in March. The application deadline is July 1st.

From August 1-3, boys and girls teams in the 2001-2004 age groups will participate in the Jefferson Cup Summer Showcase. NCAA Division I soccer college coaches will be eligible to attend the event in-person, as the NCAA’s recruiting dead period is set to expire on July 31.

On the weekend of August 15-16, the younger girls weekend will be played as a Girls Fall Kick Off event, featuring teams in the 2005-2010 age groups. The younger boys weekend was the only originally scheduled portion of the Jefferson Cup to be played in March, featuring 448 teams from throughout the country.
