VYSOKE MYTO, Czech Republic (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team dropped its Vaclav Jezek Tournament opener to Russia, 4-2, surrendering a trio of second half goals.

It was Russia that drew first blood, with Alexandr Lomovitskiy burying a penalty in the 13th minute. The U.S. was quick to respond, leveling when Joshua Perez scored a penalty of his own in the 17th. Ten minutes later the U-17’s took the lead when Hugo Arrellano scored.

Russia came out with intensity in the second half with Lomovitskiy scoring a pair of goals within five minutes (63’ and 68’) to complete his hat trick and give his team a lead, which it would hold until the final whistle.

The U-17’s will be back in action tomorrow when they face off with Slovenia.
