ECNL: Six wins in eight matches for McLean Youth Soccer

With games in Indiana not played over the weekend, it was a lighter slate for local teams in ECNL action.
Under-15s
Saturday–Freestate Soccer Alliance, with a goal from Nia Dorsey and an assist from Gabrielle Vincent, held off McLean Youth Soccer 1-0.
FC Virginia defeated Bethesda SC 3-0, getting a goal and assist each from Jasmine Warren and Tess Sapone. Alicia Fary scored the other goal, and Danielle Kiblin picked up an assist in the win.
Sunday–McLean, with a goal from Keri Vornadore and an assist from Abigail Kaplan, picked up a 1-0 shutout of Bethesda.
FC Virginia and Freestate played to a 1-1 tie. FC Virginia’s goal came from Emma Kershner, assisted by Emily Fox. Carmyn Hayes scored Freestate’s goal, with Dorsey assisting.
Freestate is atop the Mid-Atlantic Conference standings at 6-0-1, while FCV is second place at 9-0-2, .07 behind Freestate in average points-per-game. McLean, with the weekend split, is seventh at 4-8-2. The two losses for Bethesda drops it to eighth with a 2-5-0 record.
Under-16s
McLean picked up two, 1-0 wins over the weekend, beating both Freestate and Bethesda. Against Freestate, Madeline McCracken scored the lone goal, with Rebecca Voyack assisting, while Jarena Harmon scored the only goal against Bethesda, with Mary Hamilton assisting.
McLean is now 11-2-1 and second place in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, trailing in the points-per-game category to Ohio Elite Soccer Academy, which has played just four games, but is 3-0-1.
FC Virginia scored a 2-0 win over Bethesda Saturday, as Maura Aman picked up a goal and assisted on Kristina Diana’s goal. Kayla Christian picked up the other assist on Aman’s goal. On Sunday, FCV tied Freestate 1-1. The win and tie moves FCV to fifth place with a 5-3-3 record.
With the tie and loss, Freestate is now sixth with a 3-2-2 record, while Bethesda, with two losses, falls to eighth at 3-3-1
Under-17s
Freestate, with a seven goal weekend, picked up a pair of wins, 3-2 over McLean and 4-1 over FC Virginia to remain in a tie for first place, undefeated and untied at 7-0-0. Internationals SC is 4-0-0.
No goal scorers were listed for Freestate in the wins over McLean and FCV. McLean’s goals came from Susanna Carter and Emma Shumway, and Meghan Flynn picking up an assist. FCV’s lone goal Sunday came from Teresa Fruchterman, with an assist from Mackenzie Kick.
McLean rebounded from its loss Saturday with a 4-1 win over Bethesda Sunday, getting a pair of goals from Julia Suarez, along with a goal and an assist each from Laila Gray and Kaila Williams. Ana Bengoechea picked up Bethesda’s lone goal in the loss.
On Saturday, Bethesda and FC Virginia played to a 2-2 draw, as Fruchterman picked up a second goal on the weekend, with Ellen Gose scoring the other for FCV. For Bethesda, Isabella Blosser and Brianna Hollins scored.
McLean’s split moves it to 8-4-2 and fifth place in the conference standings. Bethesda, with the tie and loss, is 2-4-1 and seventh, while FCV, with a loss and tie, fall to 1-9-1 and is in ninth place.
Under-18s
FC Virginia picked up a pair of wins over the weekend, 4-1 over Bethesda Saturday and 2-1 over Freestate Sunday.
No goal scorers were provided for either win.
McLean also won twice, 4-1 over Freestate and 1-0 over Bethesda. Morgan Reuther had a hat trick for McLean in the win over Freestate. No other goal scorers were provided.
FCV moves to 9-0-3 and stand in third place in the conference. McLean’s two wins put it in fifth at 8-6-0, just ahead of sixth place Richmond Strikers (7-6-1). Freestate, with the pair of losses, falls to 3-5-0 and seventh, while Bethesda is 1-4-2 and in ninth.
