Players That Impressed: Girls Academy 2025 Champions Cup and Winter Showcase

The Girls Academy hosted one of its biggest events of the 2025-26 season from December 4-9, as the league’s National Event schedule officially got underway. The best teams in the GA descended on Norco, CA for the 2025 Winter Showcase and Champions Cup.

College coaches from all over the country will be in attendance for the tournament, in one of the first opportunities to scout players since the conclusion of the NCAA season, with the exception of the four teams who were playing in the College Cup. (College Coach List)

Amanda Davenport | Midfielder
Galaxy SC 2012 (IL)

Composed and confident on the ball, she consistently showed excellent awareness of space and game tempo. She scanned early, received under pressure with control, and looked to play forward—breaking lines and connecting teammates with purpose. Her decision-making and calm presence allowed her to influence the game well beyond her position.

Las Vegas SA 2011 (NV)

Elyse was one of the most impactful players at the GA Winter Showcase, scoring 3 goals and racking up 6 assists. She was consistently influencing the game with her strong technical skills, game awareness, and leadership on the field. Her team went undefeated and did not have any goals scored against them.

San Antonio City SC 2011 (TX)

Sugalski shined at the GA Winter Showcase, helping San Antonio City SC 2011 finish at the top of their group with some dominant attacking play. GA Midwest Talent ID invitee, Lindsey Hammes delivered an outstanding GA Winter Showcase, showcasing the complete impact she brings to North Shore United. Defensively, she was exceptional — routinely winning 1v1 duels, breaking up plays, and immediately turning those moments into dangerous counterattacks that jump-started NSU’s dynamic offense.

Las Vegas SA 2011 (NV)

Flowers shined on the back line for Las Vegas SA 2011 during the GA Winter Showcase, holding things down at center back over the course of 3 straight clean sheet performances. Her motor was relentless, winning 1v1 challenges at a high rate and providing immense support for her teammates, always finding a way to cut off any possible lanes of attack. (HIGHLIGHTS)

Dyllann Reed

UT

Reed helped Utah Celtic 2009 qualify for the GA Champions Cup Finals, coming up in March 2026, after 3 hard fought battles in the group stage. Reed came up huge in her team’s final decisive game, a 4-1 win over Lamorinda SC, as she led the attack with a brace.

Provided strong play throughout the showcase for Union KC 2009, helping her team finish at the top of their group with an unbeaten 2-0-1 record. Gossett was instrumental on the back line, making pivotal defensive plays in every game, and she got in on the offense as well, scoring a goal in her team’s final game from her right back position. Liliana Rubio

Rubio’s elite technical skills, speed on the ball and her creativity were on full display in Norco, as she consistently worked hard to find space and create scoring chances. Florida United 2009 (FL)

A U.S. Youth National Team roster pool member, Ortiz is one of the premier Class of 2028 prospects in the entire GA. Coming off multiple recent call-ups to the U.S. U-15 and U-16 Girls National Teams, Ortiz continued her dominant play with 3 goals and an assist in GA Champions Cup group play, helping Florida United punch their ticket to the Champions Cup Finals. North Shore United 2010 (WI)

Schroeder delivered an impressive GA Winter Showcase, showcasing why she is one of the most dynamic attacking threats in her age group. She scored in all three of North Shore United’s games, consistently creating danger with her blend of power, finesse, and intelligent movement. Defenders struggled to contain her throughout the event, as she found ways to impact the game both with the ball and through her off-ball runs.

Peyton Johnston | Midfielder
Blues FC 2010 (CA)

Johnston made a strong impression with her two-way presence in the center of all the action. She consistently won challenges, read the game early, and disrupted attacks before they became dangerous. On the ball, she drove play forward with confidence — carrying through pressure, connecting passes between lines, and helping her team transition quickly into the attack. Her ability to defend with discipline while still pushing the ball upfield made her one of the most impactful midfielders on the weekend.

Liv Owens | Goalkeeper
Kansas Rush 2008/2007 (KS)

As a 5’10”, Class of 2028 goalkeeper playing up 2 years with the Kansas Rush U19 team once again, Owens stood out by having 2 clean sheets while her team went 2-0-1, capturing 1st place in their pool. She impressed multiple NCAA D1 coaches, including some from Power 4 programs. Her aerial domination on corners and shot stopping were outstanding, as was her ability to distribute the ball with her feet down the field to create strong possessions for her side.

Fiona Treadway

Midfielder
AZ

SC del Sol’s attack ran like a well-oiled machine in Norco, as they racked up 12 total goals while the team cruised to 3 straight wins. Treadway played an active role in the offense, scoring 4 goals and contributing an assist while opening up a ton of space with all her hard work in the attacking third. She’s a tall and imposing player with a lot of speed as well, making her a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. (HIGHLIGHTS)

Aubrey Malace

Defender
VA

Malace stood out as one of the top defenders at the 2025 GA Winter Showcase, helping her team finish first in their bracket. As a center back, she anchored the back line with elite consistency, playing every minute of the event. Her physical presence and dominant defending led to two shutout wins with zero goals allowed.

She excelled in 1v1 battles, using strong positioning and decisive challenges to shut down attacks. With calm distribution and smart decision-making, she also played an integral role in the team’s build-up offensive plays. Malace showcased the complete profile of a high-level, physically strong defender who impacts the game on both sides of the ball.

Ellie Karl

Defender
UT

Karl, a BYU commit, is one of the most impactful players on the field with her two-way presence. She is strong and reliable on defense and a major factor in Celtic’s attack. Her athleticism and body strength allow her to consistently win defensive battles on the ground and in the air while simultaneously serving as a significant offensive force with overlapping runs, excellent crossing – tallying another assist in their Game 2 win – or unleashing long range rockets as she did in Celtic’s draw against last years national champs Galaxy SC. Karl’s contributions helped Utah Celtic 07/08 qualify for the GA Champions Cup Finals in March.

Lia Lopez

Sparked the Atlético Dallas offense during their successful GA Winter Showcase, in which they opened the event with a couple of lopsided victories. Lopez scored in each of those games, showing her long range scoring ability and strong possession play in the midfield.

Harlan Jimeson

Jimeson impressed with her pace, 1v1 defending, and transition play. Her recovery speed, ball-winning, and smart forward runs showed she can impact the game at both ends of the field.

Bergman’s playmaking skills were on full display throughout the tournament as she guided Kings Hammer 2009 to an unbeaten 2-0-1 record, while contributing to every goal the team scored. She finished the event with 1 goal and 3 assists, providing a lot of creativity and using her excellent field vision to create scoring opportunities.

Bianca Juncaj | Forward
Michigan Jaguars 2008 (MI)

Bianca impressed with her speed ability to chase the ball down in the forward position. With her team losing their goalie in the first 10 minutes in their first game, Bianca used her speed and stamina to play both ends of the field helping her team on both the offense and defensive end enough to secure their spot for Champions Cup
