Western Illinois University women’s soccer finalizes 2020 signing class

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois University women’s soccer team has added seven more players to the program: Bailey Burlingham, Lauriane Castonguay, Ellie Kiely, Angie Knies, Grace McLaughlin, Audrey Narine, and Isabel Navas Rodriguez.

The seven recent signees join Emma Brinkmann (Auburn High School) and Maddie Hasken (Freeport High School) to finalize the 2020 class.

Bailey Burlingham | Freshman Midfielder | Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Prairie High School

Assistant Coach Josee Primeau on Burlingham: “We are excited to have Bailey join us. She is creative and driven, and will add a lot of variety to our midfield.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters in soccer at Prairie High School… named First Team All-Metro and Second Team All-Conference in 2019… team-leader in goals and assists in senior year… helped team to a 14-2 finish… held a 4.0 GPA all throughout high school… member of the National Honor Society

Lauriane Castonguay | Sophomore Goalkeeper | Charlemagne, Québec, Canada | Campbellsville University

Coach Primeau on Castonguay: “Lauriane is joining us from Campbellsville University. With her being competitive and hard-working, we are looking forward to having her join our goalkeepers next fall.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Won the Quebec Cup in 2015… named Player of the Year the same season… selected as Rookie of the Year (2018)… nominated twice (2015-16) for Golden Glove award, top goalkeeper in the league… Governor’s Medal nominee and member of the 85% club in 2018.

Ellie Kiely | Junior Forward | O’Fallon, Mo. | Lewis and Clark CC

Coach Primeau on Kiely: “We are looking forward to having Ellie join us because of her time and success at Lewis and Clark. With her experience and leadership, we believe that she can help be a great example for some of our younger players.”

PRIOR TO WESTERN: Played two seasons at Lewis and Clark CC… ended eighth in the nation in assists in her sophomore year… received First Team All-Region as a freshman… named to the United Coaches All-Central Team her sophomore year.

Angie Knies | Freshman Defender | Ely, Iowa | Prairie High School

Coach Primeau on Knies: “Angie will definitely add some strength to our defense. She is hard-working, aggressive, and a great team player. We are looking forward to having her next fall.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Collected four varsity letters in soccer… earned Second Team All-State… named to First Team All-Metro, Conference and District… led team to best record in school history at 14-2.

Grace McLaughlin | Freshman Defender | New Lenox, Ill. | Lincoln-Way Central 

Coach Primeau on McLaughlin: “We are very excited to have Grace join the program with us this fall. She is committed to her academics and works just as hard on the field. Her athleticism will assist our offense next fall.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letter winner… named All-Conference junior year… totaled 11 goals and 17 assists… member of the National Honors Society… also participated in cross country and basketball.

Audrey Narine | Freshman Forward | Tronto, Ontario, Canada | Notre Dame High School 

Coach Primeau on Narine: “I have been talking to Audrey for quite some time and we are looking forward to seeing what she can add to our offense next fall. Her quickness and footwork will be a great addition.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Notre Dame High School… played for the Guyana U20 National Team at the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship… scored three goals in Under-20 World Cup Qualifiers against the Dominican Republic… had two goals in a 2-0 victory over the Cayman Islands… four-time honor roll member… competed in cross country, ski, swim and track and field.

Isabel Navas Rodriguez | Freshman Goalkeeper | Madrid, Spain |  Colegio Santa Ana y San Rafael

COACH PRIMEAU on Navas Rodriguez: “Isabel will be a great addition in goal for the program. She will help elevate the standard in training and make things competitive with our remaining keepers.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Rayo Vallecano (2014-17) and Madrid CTF (2017-2020)… five-time selection for Madrid Soccer… participated in the National Soccer Championship in 2017… appeared in the Second National Division at 15… competed in the First National Division (Top Spanish League) at age 17… team won two league titles in 2016, including one that competed in a boy’s league… four-year member of the volleyball program… played in the National Marianist Olympic Games in volleyball (1st in 2013 and 2nd in 2014) and track and field (4th in 4X100m relay and 3rd in the long jump in 2013)… had the best academic record in class (2018)… competed twice at the Madrid Math Contest.
