Virginia Tech women’s soccer adds Delaware transfer Gabby Johnson

BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech women’s soccer head coach Chugger Adair announced Thursday the signing of Delaware transfer Gabby Johnson. The Midlothian, Virginia native will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2021 season.

In her three seasons of competition with the Blue Hens, Johnson tallied six goals and two assists, while racking up 39 shots.

“On behalf of the staff, we are excited for Gabby to join our  program,” Adair said. “She has proven to be successful with Delaware and a consistent performer in the CAA as she has made their all-league team. Gabby will bring not only her soccer playing ability, but leadership, experience and joy for soccer to our program. She will be a wonderful fit with our current midfield unit.”

Johnson earned All-CAA Third Team accolades following Delaware’s recently completed spring season. The midfielder appeared in five matches and tied the team lead for points and goals.

Johnson will be eligible to compete right away for the Hokies.
