Super Y League welcomes Cedar Stars Academy-Hudson Valley

TAMPA, Fla. (Via Super Y League) – Super Y League has unveiled New York-based club Cedar Stars Academy-Hudson Valley ahead of the 2019 season. The club will compete in the North Atlantic Division, which has seen significant growth over recent seasons.

“We’re excited to have Cedar Stars Academy-Hudson Valley join Super Y league,” said Dominic Colarusso, USL Manager of Youth League Growth & Development. “As a league, we are always looking to expand our presence in the Northeast. We anticipate Cedar Stars providing an excellent on-field product as their growing academy continues to establish itself in the greater New York/New Jersey area.”

The Cedar Stars Academy youth system currently features a number of entities in New York and New Jersey, as well as a club in Houston, Texas. With the organization’s wide reach across the youth and professional scale, which includes partnerships with 2020 USL League One expansion side Penn FC and USL League Two side Cedar Stars Rush.

“Super Y League offers us an experienced and professional staff, advanced player tracking and the chance to compete for a North American Championship,” Academy Director Jim Lagarde said. “These factors align with the goals of our program here at Cedar Stars Academy – Hudson Valley, which leads to our overall mission: player development. With Super Y, Cedar Stars Academy now offers a complete, full-year program for the athletes of the Hudson Valley.

“Joining the league enables our club to continue to solidify the youth-to-pro pathway for our talented young players,” Lagarde continued. “From the Super Y League to USL League One (Penn FC) to USL League Two (Cedar Stars Rush) and onto our affiliates abroad in Germany (MSV Duisburg) and Denmark (HB Køge), our players have a clear path to follow, and it starts at the youth level with the Super Y League.”

Meanwhile, Director of Coaching Kevin Longacre echoed the same sentiment ahead of the club’s exciting announcement.

“Joining Super Y is a great opportunity for the top players in the area,” Longacre said. “It is a highly competitive league and to get that level of competition in the summer, only enhances a player’s overall development.”

With the club’s entry, Cedar Stars Academy-Hudson Valley Soccer becomes the seventh organization to join Super Y League ahead of the 2019 season, with Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County, Chicago Rush, CUSA Soccer Club, Massapequa SC, Parsippany SC and Stony Brook SC also set to begin play next year.
