STORRS, Conn. (Via University of Connecticut) – For the first time in program history, the UConn women’s soccer team has announced captains for the 2019 season. Head coach Margaret Rodriguez and staff selected Vivien Beil and Alana Moore to lead next year’s team.

“Vivien and Alana were clear choices for our staff and our team moving forward,” said Margaret Rodriguez. “Establishing leadership is an integral piece to our culture. Both Alana and Vivi are consistent in everything they do, they are driven, they lead by example, they care deeply about the team and program and most of all have the trust and respect from the coaching staff and players. Their leadership will be a great addition for our 2019 season.

Beil missed the 2018 season with an ACL injury but provided leadership and support for teammates throughout the campaign. A University of Maine transfer back in 2017, Beil earned Second Team All-Conference and All-New England honors in her first season in Storrs. She led the Huskies in goals (6), assists (6), points (18) and shots (48).

Moore battled her own injuries during the 2018 season but still saw action in 13 games. Spending time in the UConn midfield and back line, the Oakton, Virginia native has played in 51 career matches with the Huskies and started 39. Moore earned American Athletic Conference Rookie team honors after a solid freshman season in 2016.
