Standouts from four programs honored as SEC Players of the Week

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has announced its women’s soccer Players of the Week following the 7th week of Fall 2021 competition.

SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week – Alabama midfielder Reyna Reyes, a junior from Garland, Texas, and South Carolina forward Ryan Gareis, a senior from Naperville, Ill., were named Co-Offensive Players of the Week. Gareis earned a goal and an assist as Gamecocks took down 13th ranked Auburn. It was her third multi-point game of the season and the second time in her career scoring a goal and notching an assist. Reyes recorded the game-winning goal in the team’s upset win over No. 24 LSU. She took two shots in the game, one hitting the crossbar from the top of the box and the other landing in net off a header.

SEC Defensive Player of the Week – Arkansas midfielder Taylor Malham, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., scored two of Arkansas’ four goals in the win versus Georgia, giving the Hogs their ninth-straight win, a program record. Her first goal came just 58 seconds into the match, and she opened the second half with her seventh goal of the season. It’s her second brace of the season, and the second of her career. She has helped the Razorbacks outscore their last nine opponents 34-4.

SEC Freshman of the Week – Mississippi State midfielder Ally Perry, a freshman from Frisco, Texas, assisted on the game-winning goal against Kentucky as the corner kick taker. She leads the team in assists this season and leads all MSU freshmen in points.
