Sixteen more FIFA officials arrested, indicted in U.S. Dept. of Justice corruption investigation
Another batch of FIFA dignitaries were apprehended at a posh Swiss hotel this week as U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch unleashed a second wave of arrests in the corruption investigation of soccer’s international governing body.
Five current and former executive committee members were among the sixteen officials being charged with taking bribes and kickbacks to sell media and marketing rights.
Swiss federal police conducted a predawn raid at the Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich, and led away FIFA vice presidents Alfredo Hawit (head of CONCACAF) and Juan Angel Napout.
