San Diego Soccer Club joins the Girls Academy for 2021-2022 season

The Girls Academy (GA) has announced San Diego Soccer Club as a new member club for the 2021-2022 season. The club will join the GA’s Southwest Conference.

Based in the North County Inland area, San Diego SC provides both recreational and competitive opportunities for players in the communities of Rancho Penasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, and 4S Ranch. Top girls teams in the club have recently competed in the US Youth Soccer National League, and the Development Player League (DPL).

“San Diego SC is thrilled to accept an invitation to be a part of the GA,” said Director of Coaching Peter Stogsdill. “Our players and staff have been fighting for this opportunity for a long time. The GA’s commitment to the development of the whole person aligns perfectly with our commitment to developing young women to be powerful on the field as players, but even more powerful off the field by giving back to their community.”

Currently, the GA is in the midst of its inaugural season, with 69 member clubs participating. The league has announced a series of new members in anticipation of its second season, most recently expanding the Northeast Conference with the addition of Empire United (NY).

“San Diego SC has a long-standing history of competitive representation in the North County communities of San Diego,” said GA Commissioner Lesle Gallimore. “They have consistently found a way, no matter the league or platform, to develop players and perform at a high level.”

“We feel the GA will only add to the experience of their female players and that having their club in our league will positively add to the Girls Academy,” Gallimore continued. “We look forward to welcoming them to the league and seeing their players compete.”
