Girls Academy accepts Ohio club FC Evolution as new member
The Girls Academy (GA) revealed that Ohio-based FC Evolution is joining the league as a new member club for the 2021-2022 season.
Formerly under the Cleveland FC brand, FC Evolution is one of the largest youth soccer clubs in Northeast Ohio. It becomes the newest member of the GA’s Mid-America Conference.
“We have built a club perfectly aligned with the GA mission and vision that focuses on the voice of the players and strive towards a standard of excellence in coaching and competition with the best interests of the player first in mind,” said FC Evolution GA Director Benny Dargle. “FC Evolution, through the Girls Academy, now has the platform to change the dynamic of soccer for females in Northeast Ohio.”
Currently, several of FC Evolution’s top girls teams compete in the US Youth Soccer National League, where they have earned consistent success over the years. This past weekend, their 2003 squad had a perfect 3-0-0 showing at the USYS National League Playoffs, and their 2004 team went unbeaten with a 2-0-1 record.
“It became clear early on in our conversations with the FC Evolution leadership that our purposes aligned and that their club will be a great fit for the GA and the Mid-America Conference,” said GA Commissioner Lesle Gallimore. “Their sincere focus on education and development shown through and I’m excited to work with them as our league grows and evolves too.”
During the ongoing inaugural GA season, a total 13 clubs are members of the Mid-America Conference. Next fall, FC Evolution will join a group of clubs representing the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
