Record 13 ECNL Boys athletes named Gatorade Players of the Year

RICHMOND, VA – A record-setting 13 ECNL Boys players were selected as 2020-21 Gatorade State High School Players of the Year, awarded to the best soccer athlete in each state. Additionally, Texas’ Bryce Boneau (FC Dallas), was selected as the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

“ECNL Boys is thrilled to celebrate and congratulate each and every athlete selected as a Gatorade Player of the Year,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney. “These athletes show what it means to be a leader on and off the field. And having Bryce selected as the Gatorade National Player of the Year is very deserved. The opportunity for ECNL players to represent their schools and communities is very meaningful and certainly contributes to their overall development not only as players but as leaders as well.”

Started in 1985, Gatorade established the recognition to recognize the nation’s most outstanding high school student-athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character.

The 2020-21 campaign marks the third consecutive time ECNL Boys has seen a record number of players selected, up from the 11 chosen in 2018-19. See below for a full listing of ECNL winners:
