Players to Watch: ECNL Girls South Carolina National Event (Spring 2025)

The ECNL Girls South Carolina National Event is coming up May 9-11 as some of the nation’s best teams will go head-to-head in one of the final league events of the 2024-25 season.

ECNL South Carolina will feature 170 total teams across the U12-U15 age groups.

Ahead of ECNL South Carolina, here are some players to know for the tournament. Players are listed according to their graduation year.

Class of 2030

Iva Mei Lian

Midfielder Forward
MD

Iva Mei has been a key member of a Bethesda SC U14 squad which recently clinched their spot at the ECNL National Playoffs in San Diego. Bethesda is currently sitting in first place in the ECNL North Atlantic Conference with only one more league game to play. Iva Mei has contributed a pair of long range goals over the team’s last three games, and she’s in strong form as she prepares to represent the Bulgarian U15 Women’s Youth National Team in the U15 UEFA Qualifiers.

Colbie Thornhill | Midfielder / Defender
Indy Eleven Academy 2011 (IN)

A Class of 2030 athlete who plays on an Indy Eleven Academy squad predominately made of 2029s, Thornhill’s game is evolved beyond her years. She’s a tough defender and a skilled ball-handler in the midfield with great field vision. Thornhill has been a key contributor for an Indy Eleven defensive unit which has been outstanding this season, conceding only 17 goals in 13 games on the season, which is the second-best total in their division, and 9 fewer than the next best team.

Caroline Wintz

Midfielder
MD

A member of the Albanian U15 Youth National Team, Wintz has also been on the radar of the U.S. Girls National Team program in recent months. She was selected for U.S. Soccer’s U14 Girls East Region Mini Camp this spring, and has been a mainstay in the midfield for Maryland United FC in ECNL competition.

Carlyn Schmitt

Midfielder
GA

This attacking central midfielder for Concorde Fire Platinum ECNL 2011 is a member of the US Youth Soccer ODP National Team, and she recently earned a call-up to U.S. Soccer’s U-14 Girls National Team East Region Mini Camp. Schmitt is a dangerous playmaker with the ball at her feet, and is an elite passer with top tier field vision.

Laney Jallad

Midfielder
MI

Representing Liverpool FC International Academy’s 2011 squad from Michigan, Jallad is a member of the US Youth Soccer ODP National Select Team. She’s a team captain in the midfield for her ECNL side, for which she was previously named Player of the Year by her club.

Plerhoples is a standout striker and winger who has been invited to the U.S. Soccer Federation Talent I.D. Center twice this year. She scored 5 goals at Jeff Cup 2025. Known for her athleticism, ability to score with both feet, and high soccer IQ, Naomi played a year up in the ECNL 2024 Playoffs in Seattle with the FVU 2010s.

Concorde Fire Platinum 2011 (GA)

Bright is a versatile contributor for one of the most talented teams in the country, the ECNL Southeast Conference-leading Concorde Fire Platinum 2011 squad. Utilizing her two-way abilities at various spots in the midfield and on the back line, Bright has helped guide Concorde Fire to a remarkable unbeaten 21-0-3 record this season.

Concorde Fire Platinum 2011 (GA)

Coryell is one of the leading attacking players on a Concorde Fire Platinum offense which has racked up 56 goals in just 15 games this season, as they simply overwhelmed opposing defenses at every turn. Thanks to her top-end speed and finishing ability, Coryell draws significant attention from defenders and opens up the entire attacking third for her teammates.

NC Courage Academy 2011 (NC)

A talented multi-dimensional athlete for one of the strongest teams on the East Coast for the 2011 age group, Bass has been among the leaders of an NC Courage Academy 2011 side which is sitting in 15th in the country in the ECNL Champions League standings. A top-level ball winner on the defensive side and exceptional distributor with the ball at her feet, Bass helps the Courage control possession at an impressive rate.

Mia Springfield | Goalkeeper
Concorde Fire Platinum 2011 (GA)

Mia is a goalkeeper that possesses elite athleticism and decision-making at the position. She has participated on ODP teams over the years as well as recently been part of U.S. Soccer’s U-14 Girls National Team East Region Mini Camp. Playing with one of the nation’s premier clubs, Concorde Fire Platinum 2011, she works daily on her skills against some of the best field players around.

Scarlett Ambrose

Midfielder
VA

Coming off an outstanding performance at the 2025 Jefferson Cup Girls Showcase, Ambrose will look to remain in elite form as Fairfax Virginia Union heads down to South Carolina. Ambrose’s dynamic scoring and playmaking abilities has been instrumental in the Union’s success this season, as they sit atop the ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference table.

Olivia Rubin | Midfielder / Defender
NC Courage Academy 2010 (NC)

This strong two-way player earned a spot on U.S. Soccer’s U14 Girls East Region Mini Camp this spring, as she’s been a standout for the NC Courage Academy 2010 team. Rubin and her Courage Academy teammates will be highly motivated in South Carolina as they’re fighting tooth-and-nail for postseason qualification, as members of the challenging ECNL Mid-Atlantic Conference.
