U.S. U-18 MNT splits two-game set with Canada

CARSON, Calif. (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team split a two-game set, winning 3-1 against Canada on Oct. 23 before dropping a 2-3 decision to the northern neighbor days later.

Early in the first match, the USA went behind to a Canada goal in the 7th minute. But the USA didn’t give up and fought hard to equalize with a goal from Nick Taitague in the 41st minute sending the game into halftime all square.

In the 67th minute, Nebiyou Perry grabbed the lead for the U.S. and struck again in the 89th minute to seal the game.

Two days later, Canada scored first again; netting the lead in the 5th minute of the game. Griffin Dorsey equalized in the 30th minute for the U.S., leaving the score tied at halftime. Canada came back with another goal in the 63rd minute, but Nick Taitague answered moments later to tie the game 2-2 in the 70th minute.

Unfortunately, USA suffered a late own goal in the 90th minute, leaving Canada as the victor of the rematch.
