Mid-Atlantic region Thanksgiving tournament overview

November is one of the busiest months for youth soccer tournaments, as many clubs wind down their fall seasons with end-of-season events and high school aged teams seek out additional college showcase opportunities before winter hits on the East Coast. See below for an overview of just some of the tournaments taking place in the lead-up to Thanksgiving.

Meriden, Connecticut
Boys and Girls Schedules
A small but high level tournament in the Tri-State area, the 2015 AFC Collegiate Showcase features single divisions ranging from the U-15 to U-18 age groups on the boys and girls sides. The fourth edition of the AFC event will host two reigning State Cup champion squads from Rhode Island as well as semifinalists and finalists from the host state of Connecticut.

Girls Weekend Results | Boys Weekend Schedule
For the first time in its history, the Generation Adidas Bethesda Premier Cup competitive field includes qualifiers from Rush for the Cup and the recently launched Embassy Cup, providing 30 additional teams the chance to play their way into the prestigious tournament. Over 100 reigning State Cup champion squads and 12 Regional champions are competing over the course of the event, which concludes November 20-22 with the Boys Weekend.

The Capital Fall Classic is playing host to nearly 500 teams over the course of two weekends, concluding November 21-22 with the Girls Weekend. This Richmond Strikers Tournament Series event will provide 20 squads a guaranteed spot in the 2016 Jefferson Cup, while also providing a central recruiting location for college showcase divisions and an end-of-season event for clubs from throughout the East Coast and Midwest.

Boys Weekend Schedule | Girls Weekend Schedule
This is a premier level tournament for some of the nation’s most competitive teams, held annually at the WRAL Soccer Complex. More than 400 teams from the U-15 to U-19 age groups are competing in the Boys Weekend from November 20-22 with over 250 college coaches registered to attend. Some 400 college coaches will scout the Girls Weekend coming up December 4-6.

Long Island, New York
Girls Weekend Schedule
Nearly 300 of top girls teams from Under-13 to 19 from all over the country are at this year’s NEWSS event on Long Island. The over 120 college coaches pre-registered (and plenty more typically showing up unannounced) will have a lot of scouting to do with 32 reigning state champions, three regional champs and dozens of other top class teams attending this two day event.

Weekend Schedule
Played primarily at the expansive Warhill Sports Complex, this mostly regional event not only provides the opportunity for competitive end of season play on quality surfaces, its proximity to historic Williamsburg provides plenty to do for families. Several of the 16 member clubs of the Club Champions League send teams, but there are plenty from outside the elite regional travel league as well.

More than 500 teams are participating in the 2015 Columbia Fall Classic, hosted by SAC and Elite Tournaments. The competitive field features State Cup, Regional and National Champion sides ranging from the U-9 to U-19 age groups. The event concludes this weekend with the girls slate.

Some 40 State Cup champion teams are set to compete in the EDP Cup / MSSL Winter College Showcase, a U-15 to U-18 event featuring nearly 450 teams over the course of two weekends, starting November 21-22 with the girls divisions which will be played in front of dozens of college coaches. It features many of the top US Club Soccer affiliated teams from throughout the East Coast and around the country.

Boys and Girls Schedules
One of the region’s largest tournaments during the fall season, the Hempfield Adidas Fall Classic enters its 30th season with a field of nearly 750 total teams between the girls and boys divisions. Age groups range from U-9 to U-19, and features a wide range of competition levels with clubs representing Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and dozens from the host state of Pennsylvania.

MAPS Cup
West Windsor, New Jersey
Boys and Girls Schedules
A collection of high level U-11 to U-14 squads will travel to West Windsor, NJ for the MAPS Cup. The boys side features only a U-14 division while the girls side features a wide range of teams from throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Maryland, including several State Cup champions and finalists.


Fauquier-County-United-SCHunt Country Classic

Fauquier County, Virginia
Boys and Girls Schedules
The Hunt Country Classic, is one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s largest fall tournaments, drawing around 400 U9-U18 boys and girls teams. Staged on high-quality synthetic turf and bermuda grass fields in Fauquier county’s beautiful hunt country, the tournament is an annual favorite from travel teams of all levels.
