Maryland United FC adds high profile coaches to ECNL and boys coaching staff

Maryland United FC has added former D.C. United Academy coach Jon Norem to the boys coaching staff and Ohio Elite coach David Stockum to the ECNL staff. Stockum will oversee the club’s U-16 and U-17 ECNL teams, while Norem will work on the boys side of the club.

Jon Norem

Maryland United FC is delighted to welcome coach Jon Norem to our family and list of highly qualified staff.

Jon joins us having recently coached with D.C. United’s Academy program. He is the current head coach of Bishop Ireton’s Boys’ Varsity Soccer where he earned Coach of the Year honors in 2012 and 2014. Jon played collegiately at Shenandoah University. Coach Jon will work on the boys side of the club.

David Stockum

Maryland United FC is pleased to announce the addition of David Stockum to the girls’ coaching staff. David will coach our U16 and U17 ECNL teams.

Dave has been working with Ohio Elite’s ECNL teams in virtually the identical model to our ECNL program, a team coaching model with a more club-centric approach. Along with Doug Bracken and Tim Lesiack, Dave spearheaded Ohio Elite’s ECNL high school age groups. Dave is also the men’s assistant coach at Cincinnati State.

Before he began his coaching career, Stockum played at an extremely high level. He earned high school All-America accolades his senior year as goalkeeper at Fairfield HS. He then attended Cincinnati State for one year before transferring to the University of Louisville. He played 3 years for the Cardinals.
