Hampton University women’s soccer program tabs Momoh Kanneh as head coach

HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University athletics announced on Wednesday that Momoh Kanneh will be the new head coach of the women’s soccer program. Kanneh served as an assistant coach last season.

“I am happy to be presented this opportunity with a program I am very fond of,” said Kanneh. “Having been with the team last year in our first Big South season, I look forward to leading this program as we grow in the Big South Conference.”

A long-time area soccer coach with experience in all age groups of soccer, Kanneh has been the assistant director of Advanced Development Program for the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club since 2016. Kanneh also serves as the Assistant Technical Director for ETA Coaching/Trainer Staff since 2015.

He was the coach of Denbigh High School girls team for two years and worked with the Newport News Football Club, Barca Futbol Clube and the Gaston United Soccer Club.

Kanneh has served as a Health Science and Medical Terminology teacher at Warwick High School and worked at Canon in Production Support Service.

He graduated from Belmont Abbey College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management.

The Lady Pirates open their season on Thursday with a 4 pm kick in Lexington, Va. against VMI. This game will be on ESPN+.
