Big South Freshman of the Year Kat Parris transfers from Radford to Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland women’s soccer head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer annouces the addition of Kat Parris to the 2023 Terrapin roster. Parris will be joining the Terps after begining her career at Radford.

Parris comes to College Park after a stellar first two seasons of her carer in the Big South. The Big South Freshman of the Year was the leading goal scorer for the Highlanders totaling 21 goals and 13 assists over two season. Parris played an integral role in Radford’s offense to help the team claim a Big South Conference Tournament Championship and a NCAA Tournament birth this season.

Parris will begin training with the Terps this spring and Maryland preps for offseason training. The Terps are coming off of their most successful season since 2019, recording their most Big Ten wins in three seasons, including the program’s first ever victory over Michigan.

As a Sophomore at Radford (2022)…Played and started in all 20 games…Led the team in shots with 47, 21 of which were on goal…Led the team with 20 points after scoring eight goals and recording four assists…Logged 1,344 minutes of play…Earned Big South Offensive Player of the Week honor (Oct. 3)…Had two multi-goal games against Winthrop and Charleston Southern…Named to All Big South first team

As a Freshman at Radford (2021)…Played in all 19 games, starting in all of them…Led the team in shots with 60, 29 of which were on goal… Led the team with 13 goals and 9 assists…Had 1 goal and 2 assists against Mount St. Mary’s…Logged 1,155 minutes of field time… Named Virginia Rookie of The Year, as well as All-State First Team, Big South Offensive Player of The Week (1), Big South Freshman of the week (2), Big South First Team All-Conference, Big South All-Freshman Team, and Big South Freshman of The Year.

Prior to College…2019 First-Team All State… Two time player of the year… Four-time All-County honoree… All Country track athlete.
