CCL ScrimmageFest laying groundwork for club development
The spring edition of ScrimmageFest, an event hosted by the Club Champions League for U-9 and U-10 teams, is being played this weekend at SYA Sports Park in Centreville, Va. A total of 82 teams from 11 CCL clubs – Arlington Soccer, BRYC, DC Stoddert, Loudoun Soccer, McLean YS, Maryland United FC, Potomac SA, SYA, Annandale United FC, FC Frederick and SOCA – will play four 30-minute games each, 7v7 on small-sided fields. Often described as an organized version of street soccer, there are no official stoppages, substitution limits or referees.

A 5-0 win for D.C. United Academy's U-15/16 U.S. Soccer Development Academy squad over Baltimore Bays Chelsea on Saturday combined with a 1-0 loss for Bethesda-Olney against Everton FC Westchester allowed United to leapfrog Bethesda and take over a Wild Card spot for this summer's USSDA playoffs. In the U-17/18 age group, Bethesda-Olney boosted their push for a playoff spot with a 4-0 rout of Everton at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Md.

PSW: U.S Under-15 Boy’s National Team head coach John Hackworth has selected a 20-player roster that will travel to Gradisca d’Isonzo, Italy, from April 21-May 2, and compete in the 12th Tournament Delle Nazioni. Potomac area players Chandler Vaughn (D.C. United Academy), Christopher Durkin (Richmond United) and Nicholas Taitague (Richmond United) have been named to the roster.
