Tennessee players highlight SEC’s weekly awards after win over No. 13 Ole Miss

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced its Players of the Week following the completion of Week 7 of the 2022 NCAA soccer season.

Offensive Player of the Week

Jaida Thomas, Tennessee
F • Jr. • Dallas, Texas

Jaida Thomas scored the game-winner in Tennessee’s 1-0 win over No. 13 Ole Miss on the road on Friday, getting a head on a cross and placing it in the side net from eight yards out in the 79th minute. She was on the field for 79 minutes, getting off five shots, three of which were on frame. The goal at Ole Miss was her 10th goal of the season and third game-winner.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lawson Renie, Tennessee

Lawson Renie anchored the Tennessee defense for the full 90 minutes in Tennessee’s 1-0 win at No. #13 Ole Miss on Friday, shutting out the previously undefeated Rebels and limiting them to just nine shots and three shots on goal. Renie also got involved in the attack, getting in the box on a corner kick and placing a header on frame.

Freshman of the Week

Bella Hollenbach, Missouri

Bella Hollenbach was a barrier in net for Missouri against No. 21 ranked Mississippi State in a 1-1 tie Friday, Sept. 30. Hollenbach totaled six saves in the contest, one shy of tying her season high. The redshirt freshman recorded her third shutout of the year, making her tied for third in SEC play this season. The Woodlands, Texas native is seventh in the conference in saves (13) and save percentage (3.25) in league action.
