U.S. Youth National Team roster pool player Aethan Yohannes signs with Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest men’s soccer has announced the signing of Aethan Yohannes as part of the program’s 2022 signing class.

Yohannes most recently played for AZ Alkmaar’s U-17 team and also has international experience with both the U-15 and U-17 national teams for the United States where he’s collected 13 caps.

The Springfield, Va., native has also spent time with SC Buitenveldert and D.C. United Academy.

“We’re very excited to add a player of Aethan’s quality to our program,” said head coach Bobby Muuss. “Any time you can add a player with National Team experience at multiple age groups to your program, you feel confident about the direction you’re heading. Aethan is a versatile and athletic center midfielder with a high soccer IQ who comes from a top European club. His experience overseas and training environment he’s been involved with over the last several years will allow him to transition well into our system and program.”

Yohannes is the eighth member of this year’s incoming class, currently ranked No. 2 in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com. He joins mid-year enrollees Cooper FlaxSamuel Jones and Alec Kenison along with Vlad Walent, Devin Armstrong, and Nico Rabiu. The team also announced in February the addition of Naval Academy transfer Sidney Paris, a 2021 All-Patriot League selection.
