SEC Soccer Players of the Week selected from LSU, Georgia, Auburn

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has announced its women’s soccer Players of the Week following the 4th week of Fall 2021 competition.

SEC Offensive Player of the Week – LSU forward Molly Thompson, a senior from Houma, La., registered the first hat trick of her collegiate career in LSU’s 5-0 win over ULL. The first goal was a header in the 16th minute to give LSU 1-0 lead. Second goal was a bending shot from left side of box to give LSU 2-0 lead in 21st minute and the hat trick came in 51st minute on a sliding attempt from eight yards out.

SEC Defensive Player of the Week – Georgia defender Cecily Stoute, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., anchored a backline that only allowed four Presbyterian shots and held the Blue Hose without a corner, the first time Georgia had accomplished that feat since 2015. Playing a full 90 minutes, Stoute and the Georgia defense almost repeated the feat in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Charleston, allowing just one Cougar corner and limiting them to just four shots and only one on target.

SEC Freshman of the Week – Auburn forward Carly Thatcher, a freshman from Greer, S.C., made her season-high 27 minutes against Alabama A&M count as she turned in the 14th hat trick in program history. Thatcher put all three of her shots into the back of the net and scored her first two goals against the Bulldogs in a span of 30 seconds.
