No. 5 UCLA and Cal State Fullerton draw record crowd for regular season game

Fullerton, Calif. – No. 5 UCLA shut out Cal State Fullerton, 3-0, in front of 7,832 fans at Titan Stadium, the fifth-largest regular season crowd in NCAA women’s soccer history. The Bruins have played in four of those five games, including each of the Top 3.

For the second consecutive game, Maricarmen Reyes scored an early goal to put the Bruins ahead, possessing a clearance attempt in front of the box and firing far post for her second goal of the season in the 11th minute.

UCLA scored two goals in a little under two minutes late in the second half to put the game away. Freshman Quincy McMahon scored her first collegiate goal, volleying a Madelyn Desiano cross past the Fullerton goalkeeper at 77:53. Michaela Rosenbaum was also credited with an assist on the goal, and she quickly picked up her second assist at 79:50 after she sent a pass in to Mia Fishel at the top right corner of the box. Fishel turned and then quickly fired far post for her second goal of the 2021 campaign.

Bruin goalkeeper Lauren Brzycky earned the shutout, making two saves on five Titan shots. UCLA totaled 17 shots, led by four each from Fishel and Reyes. Titan goalkeeper Noa Schumacher made five saves.

UCLA (2-0) will next host Long Beach State on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 6pm in a game that will be televised live on Pac-12 Los Angeles.
