LONG BEACH, Calif. – Mauricio Ingrassia and the Long Beach State women’s soccer coaching staff announced today that seven freshmen will join the five transfers who have been added to the roster for the upcoming 2020 season.

Mya Daily; Midfielder, 5-7, Moreno Valley, Calif. (Riverside Poly HS)

A versatile midfielder from Riverside Poly High School.  She played club soccer for Legends FC in the US Soccer Development Academy.

Ingrassia on Daily: “Mya is a player that glides on the pitch, she covers a lot of ground and plays with determination and passion.  She will compete for playing time right away, and she will add quality to our midfield.  I’m super excited to be adding Mya to our program.”

Katarina Decaroli; Goalkeeper, 5’9, Savage, Minn. (Prior Lake HS)

An accomplished out-of-state goalkeeper, Decaroli made 73 saves as a senior with Prior Lake High School, playing every minute of the season in goal.

Ingrassia on Decaroli: “Katarina has a real passion for the position. She is athletic and long, and will add real depth to our goalkeeping crew. We are glad to have Katarina at The Beach.”

Celine Gehrig; Midfielder, 5-7, Redondo Beach, Calif. (Redondo Union HS)

Celine Gehrig comes to the Beach after four years as a letter-winner at Redondo Union High School, where she controlled the midfield. Gehrig also played club soccer for Slammers FC.

Ingrassia on Gehrig: “Celine can play in a center-back or holding midfield role. She brings technical ability and tenacity to our team, and she is also a great leader. Celine radiates with positivity and that will help her in the transition to the college game.”

Evan House; Forward, 5-9, Visalia, Calif. (Redwood HS)

House will come to the Beach after a prolific career as a scorer at Redwood High School. House scored 77 goals and added 21 assists over three seasons as a varsity letterwinner, and was the top goal scorer in Division 1 of the Central Section as both a junior and a senior. The 2019 West Yosemite League MVP, she also was the league Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 and was a two-time first-team all-league pick, leading the Rangers to three straight league championships in her three seasons with the team. House played her club soccer with the Central California Soccer Alliance.

Ingrassia on House:  “Evan comes to us with unlimited potential. She is a great athlete, super dedicated to her craft. She brings a blue collar, hard-working mindset, and she can score goals. I look forward to integrating Evan to our program.”

Maddy Perez; Defender, 5-5, West Covina, Calif. (West Covina HS)

A central defender from West Covina, Calif., Maddy Perez was a first-team all-league selection as a freshman at West Covina High School before turning her attention to club soccer. A consistent presence on USA Youth National Teams, Perez has been called up at the U16, UC17, UC 18 and U20 levels while competing for Legends FC. Her most recent call-up came for a friendly when she made the roster for a U20 match against Japan in October of 2019.

Ingrassia on Perez:  “Maddy is one of our most decorated recruits, having been called to many youth national team camps during her club career. She will compete for play time right away. She reads the game very well, has great technique, and anticipates situations with great insight. I look forward to working with Maddy and the rest of the back row.”

Sky Rodriguez; Forward, 5-3, Newport Beach, Calif. (Newport Harbor HS)

A prolific striker with Newport Harbor High School, Rodriguez scored over 50 career goals and made over 40 assists as a four-year letterwinner with the Sailors, earning all-league and player of the year honors as both a junior and a senior. She played her club soccer with Slammers FC.

Ingrassia on Rodriguez: “Sky comes highly recommended and has tremendous upside. She is a hardworking forward, has a nose for the goal, and is a great teammate both on and off the field. We look forward to working with Sky to develop her game.”

Bree San Lucas; Forward, 5-5, Valencia, Calif. (Saugus HS)

San Lucas is another accomplished attacking player that will join the Beach in 2020. Playing for four seasons at Saugus High School, San Lucas was a multi-sport athlete, also competing in track and field while earning multiple All-Foothill League honors. She also played club soccer with Real SoCal, and scored 20 goals during the most recent Development Academy season.

Ingrassia on San Lucas:  “Bree is a left sided attacking player who will add depth to our midfield and front row. She has a knack for scoring goals and is a good athlete. She could see playing time right away on the left side of the field.”
