CHARLESTON, S.C. – Eighteen players have been named to US Club Soccer’s first-ever id2 National Selection International Tour for top girls players born in 2005.

The delegation, which represents 14 clubs from 10 states around the country, will travel to England to play top academies in a multi-faceted, international immersion that combines elite soccer opportunities with cultural experiences.

The 2020 id2 National Selection International Tour takes place March 13-24 for both the boys – 2006 birth years (roster announcement tomorrow) traveling to England and Scotland – and girls teams.

The 18 players selected for this trip will begin their journeys in northern New Jersey, as the team acclimates to each other in a brief domestic camp. Then, the id2 National Selection girls team travels across the pond to Manchester, where it will be based for four days, before transferring to London for the remainder of the tour.

“This is an historic moment for the id2 Program,” said Tricia Taliaferro, id2 Girls Program Director. “The girls that make up the roster of the first-ever id2 girls international trip will be tasked with setting the standard for years to come. We intend to make our mark, and represent this program and our country well while in the U.K.”

This id2 National Selection International Tour is a combination of friendlies against top English academies and sightseeing excursions – valuable for both soccer and personal growth of these talented players. There will be four matches in England and one scrimmage during the domestic camp in New Jersey. Those opponents will be announced soon.

Consistent with US Club Soccer’s philosophy that identification and development should be free to players, the organization is funding the trip in conjunction with the strong support of Nike; there is no cost to players, including airfare, lodging, meals and gear. Verizon has also become the presenting sponsor of the id2 Program and is supporting both international trips. More details on the Verizon partnership are coming soon. The id2 Program is an Olympic Development Program approved by the United States Olympic Committee and U.S. Soccer Federation. Premier International Tours is assisting with travel logistics.
