U.S. U-15 Girls National Team closes European trip with 2-1 loss to Germany

LINGEN, Germany – The U.S. Under-15 Girls’ National Team fell to Germany, 2-1, to finish a training camp in Europe that also included a 4-1 loss to the Netherlands.

Germany opened the scoring in just the sixth minute as a shot from Liz Sabmannshausen deflected off the foot of U.S. center back Ariana Rodriguez and into the net.

The USA equalized in the 36th minute when forward Arianni Hodge intercepted the ball on the left wing and passed it to fellow forward Anna Change, who found Marley Skalski in stride running at the goal. Skalski finished into the lower right corner to knot the match.

Germany got the winner in first-half stoppage time of the 80-minute match as Amelie Doganer buried her penalty kick into the top left corner.

All 20 players called up by U.S. head coach Vanessa Mann were born in 2011. This age group will attempt to qualify for the 2028 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The camp and matches are a part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
