Maryland’s Stertzer named ACC Player of the Week for Week 1
Senior midfielder John Stertzer of Maryland was named Week 1 ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon for his contribution in the Terps’ 3-0 win over No. 7 Louisville on Sunday night.
Stertzer netted the final goal of the match in the game’s waning moments, but more importantly played a major part in holding the dynamic Cardinals scoreless on opening night. Surprisingly, this was the first conference Player of the Week honor for Stertzer, who had a monster junior year in 2011 with 14 goals and 4 assists.
